I've never heard anything saying it wasn't true. Everything I've read about it has been people saying he replied on Daum to someone/people saying that he did.

Yes same! BTS quickly became my 2nd favorite group and when you listen to their music it's just like "how are these kids rookies?!" But yeah with the popularity they have been receiving since they debuted, they'll definitely be big!
