No, that's a documentary that came out this year. My boyfriend and I have seen the trailer, but we had no desire to watch the background drama that goes on at the event. We kind of felt like it might ruin it for us.

After making that comment I watched an hour long documentary that this guy made about this event and he explained and showed how strict the people running it are, esp. with the customized cars that people drive around, so I assumed a lot of things at Burning Man were regulated for safety.

There's a 40 foot tall man they burn on the second to the last night along with the art structures. But there are very specific fire guidelines, as well as codes on what kind of wood is used in order for a safe burn. There is a safety tent and there are Fire Guardians, who keep people from getting too close to the perimeter. The most common injuries are from dehydration and stepping on exposed tent stakes.

I think going here is going to be added to my bucket list.... I hope I don't die though. Looking at YouTube videos there seems to be a lot of fire-y things going on there.

I've heard a little about Burning Man through friends and such in the past couple of years but thank you so much for giving me such a in-depth view at it. It sounded cool before but now it sounds amazing, hopefully I can attend a Burning Man at some point in my life.

You have to demonstrate a need and have some documentation of it. You fill out an application and wait to hear back. I'm still waiting.

    @ it calls dru on.

What requirements do you need to have to apply for a low income ticket? (not trying to be invasive, I could never do $400 for a ticket so I'd like to know)

I applied for a low income ticket, which would be $200. Normal priced tickets are $400.

This sounds like a really fun and awesome event. Especially the non-judgemental and peaceful atmosphere that they're trying to create. I'd like to know how true to this the participants stay, though, because it seems like in even the nicest atmospheres, no matter how much good everyone is trying to make out of it, there's always someone who is going to try to be a douche bag. Also, do people need to pay anything to get in? I don't live anywhere near Nevada but this is definitley something to put on the bucket list... tehe
