    I talked to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders at a local mental health facility and he told me overexercising after a binge is considered purging. Just thought I'd share that little tidbit. I really appreciate you writing this article Mr. Green

    @ Valiente
    Thank you! I used definitions from the DSM-V to avoid making any controversial claims. It only states excessive exercising as related to bulimia though I agree that it's relevant to other disorders, too.

    @ serendipity;
    I'm sorry to hear that you suffered from BED, it's sad how much it's overlooked - I mean, it was identified as an eating disorder fifty years after a doctor first wrote about it. I'm happy to see that you're apparently in recovery/recovered though, well done on that! Thank you for the compliments.

    @ Smiles All Around
    Thank you. I used the DSM-V as a source because it's got a good reputation, but I felt it was important to rebel from that and write about what it doesn't discuss, like the issues with EDNOS and BED Wink I hope you're coping okay with your eating disorder and I encourage you to write about it, even personal experience holds a lot of value.

    @ Daydreamingdirnt
    I think you need to give more credit to yourself for seeking help, but thank you anyway. I hope you're doing well and that you're able to recover!

    Thank you so much for recognizing this. I suffer from bulimia, which tears me apart, and thanks to you I have contacted NEDA. Thanks again. :')

    I suffer from an eating disorder and I just wanted to thank you, as others have already, for actually recognizing the other 'lesser known' but just as common ones.
    I also liked that you acknowledged the issues with EDNOS and BED which are issues that many of my friends and myself have to deal with daily.
    I'm glad you made this article, I was thinking of writing a similar one in case no one else had. :) x

    I absolutely loved this article- I was happy to read that you didn't just list anorexia and bulimia. I battled with BED and seeing others recognize this eating disorder and spread awareness makes me very happy. People often forget that there are other eating disorders aside from the commonly discussed ones. So once again, thank you for divulging properly into the topic. A job well done and a fantastic article!! Cute

    This article is very well written. I am very glad you talked about subtypes and other eating disorders than just anorexia, bulimia, and BED. However, purging can include excessive exercise after bingeing.

    If anyone needs treatment, I would highly suggest going to Timberline Knolls outside of Chicago
