Hot Hound or Puppy in Pain?

Hot Hound or Puppy in Pain? More and more companies are developing little accessaries for our pets. A sweater and diamond collar for our dogs, a heated blanket for our cat , or an ultra comfortable and easy clean up bedding for our hamsters cages. And more and more people are buying them.

They think they are spoiling their pets. But are they really? Sure WE think that it looks cute or is helpful, but things aren't always what they seem. If you put a heavy diamond collar on your little Chihuahua, do you think it makes them happy? A sparkley, heavy collar weighing down on their neck that people are either not allowed to touch or are always going gaga over doesn't seem like a good deal for me.

If I were a dog, I would rather have a light regular cute collar that can be hooked up to the leash and isn't making my neck sore. Or if I was a hamster I would rather have bedding that I can work with and make a bed or sleeping area out of myself than a hard to move around and dig in bedding throughout my cage. Wouldn't you?

Point is we should really think about what we are getting ready to buy for our pets. Would it please them or give them discomfort? Do they really need it or would they tear it up? If more people asked these questions maybe less turtles would have paint on their back, maybe less cats and dogs would have uncomfortable sweaters on. Don't get me wrong, a cute little sweater is ok with me, as long as the pet is happy in it. Although sweaters are better for keeping them warm than looking cute.

Make sure they aren't trying to chew it off because it's itchy, or makes them uncomfortable in any way. If you are going to put sweaters on your dog, make sure it is MADE for a dog. If it is a baby doll jacket that looks like it would fit them just right, it won't. The sleeves or arm holes are shaped for a baby doll, not a puppy. In the very least it will be pulling and rubbing on them on their front legs. So if you really love your pet, think about what you're giving to them.
