Animal Abuse: Horse Meat in the Black Market - Comments

• Ironically enough, i was watching this show on Nat.Geography about the French and the Chinese who love to eat horse meet.
How can you eat a horse; yes i understand if you say you love eating chickens - cause truthfully they do nothing good for the earth - but horses? Comm'on! they are like one of thee nicest animals (apart from that one horse, that threw me off its back in 3rd grade).
STOP EATING HORSES. THEY DONE NOTHING WRONG. kill chickens instead D:

• Ack, if I found my horse dead... Someones head would be on an effin platter. I mean my uncle has had my horses at his farm put down when they broke a leg, but thats different. Killing other peoples animals for black market meat is sick!

• horses are my favorite animal. but why should it be wrong to kill an horse when billions of cows turkeys and chicken are killed everyday? i feel bad for the poor baby horse and farmer. Must be a shocking thing to see. also everyone forgets humans are animals too. and on top all that other animals except us were here before we even exicisted. Why should we kill something that took billions of years for mother nature to create? I wouldnt care less if a guinea pig or horse got killed just as long as its killed porperly. Most people starve them for there coats. I would preffer something that kills them instanly and they cant feel it. Same goes for shooting, disease, and starvation. i hope i made a good point for you.\

• i think it's just like when u hear about poachers killing tigers and lions for their fur, or elephants being killed for their ivory and whales being killed.

it seems like no matter what we do, those horrible people will always be there :( i don't like cows being killed or chickens or anything else. what right do we have to kill other things? i guess it's just the way things work.

it's a really depressing thought, i guess.

• People eat horse meat.

What gets me most, that in a time when we aren't really at war with anyone that would cause 'rationing' situations that there is a black market for meat anyway?

• Pffft. Who cares? Boo fucking hoo. A horse got killed for meat. Millions of cows, pig, and chickens get slaughtered for meat too. The only reason people throw a fit about this is because wherever you were raised, clearly there wasn't horse meat for sale. In other countries, whilst they slaughter horses, cats, dogs, they are possibly appauled by the slaughtering of cows, pigs, and chicken, etc.

Tough shit. :| Get over it. >_> As not to say I don't adore my horses, I do, and I would not like them slaughtered any time soon, it happens though. Killing of every single animal happens.

Also, I found this article jumbled, confusing, disorganized, and a bit too personal.

• Couple things:
One...ugh, so gross.
Two.. I don't understand how it's illegal to kill and sell the meat, but it's not illegal to buy. That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
and Three, not to be a bitch or a total preaching vegetarian or anything but, I don't understand this. If you're not against killing chickens and cows and pigs, then why are you against killing horses? It's just another animal isn't it? It's becuase it's domesticated, and it's viewed as a beautiful animal. But in the end it is still an animal. So why is it okay to kill some animals for food and not others?

Again, not for it, just wondering...

• Erm, okay. This article, while it held a good point and talked about something most of us didn't even know about, was extremely disorganized. I found myself confused on many different occasions. It was also a little too personalized. This could have been a great article, had you done some real research, and it doesn't seem like you did.

I, personally, see nothing wrong with eating horses. Yes, they are beautiful, majestic creatures, but they are still animals. We eat animals everyday. [That statement excludes Vegetarians, Vegans, etc] If a certain animal is close to your heart, I can understand not wanting to eat it. Like me, I could never, ever eat a kitty.

However, calling other people "sick" or "disgusting" because they have no personal attachment to the same animal as you is wrong. Some people find it alright to eat any sort of animal. Like hunters will eat deer and rabbit, while most of us find that we could never. Other cultures are the same way, too. We can't call them "disgusting" for their way of life being different. It's an ignorant thing to do. It would be different if someone said the act of eating an animal they love is disgusting, but to call a person sick for it is simply bigoted.

I do think, though, that mutilating another person's horse for meat and selling it illegally is wrong.

• An old man found his horse killed lying besides it's baby, chunks of meat and important organs missing.

That sentence made me sick. That poor man, he must have loved his horses. That poor little baby. My God.

I'm very upset by this. Horses are very beautiful animals.

And LovelyTorture, your upset for this subject is understandable, but you shouldn't use such words. It could get you banned.

• I can't stand horses ( I've been attacked and thrown off by horses quite a few times) and I still find this pretty shocking.

• I just want to say, that while I don't believe in condoning the illegal selling of horse meat, many other countries - such as Japan- eat horse meat like we eat beef. And went I went to Japan on a foreign exchange trip they even served it at the schools. I didn't try it because it was just so werid, but I know people who have.
I'm just saying, everyone's view of killing certain animals for their meat is different.
That^ was directed at LovelyTorture

Anyway. Good and informative article. :)

• I own a couple horses, and it disgusts me (the horse meat eating/killing thing). It scares me, and it hurts me. I love my horses, I love all animals, and I wosh they never died, let alone got killed for FOOD!
And let me tell you, the farm where I ride has 46 horses. They get sick, they come up lame, they die, I mean, it just never stops. Horses are not always very healthy animals, lol. And several sicknesses horses have are able to go to humans, too.
So, if you eat horse meat (FAGGOT!!! COCK-SUCKING, MOTHERFUCKING DOUCHEBAG!!!!) you might get very sick. Hahaha. Joke's on you.
