Wicca Misconceptions - Comments

When I first converted to Wicca a lot around me thought I worshipped the devil. Those who thought that had never heard of Wicca before. I was constantly teased, there were people saying that I was going to put a spell on them. I am even teased by my best friends. They saying that I was having sex with a tree among other rather vulgar acts. Thank you for raising awareness.

Its important for people to realize that if someone practices wicca it doesn't mean that, that person practices magic. Also, people who practice magic do not have to have a religion or have to practice wicca.

yeah i read a book by cate tiernan called the sweep series, its really good, and its fiction, but it does promote the three fold law and saying that wicca is basically being intouch with mother nature, and yeah some christian traditions are wiccan based like samhain or yule

I agree with you that Wicca is not bad, or Satan related. But there are those who associate themselves as being Wiccan because of this so called 'emo' trend, the wear pentagrams, not knowing there true meaning.

The other day I was sitting in my history class and I had a ring with a pentagram on my finger, my teacher look over and then down and decides to come out with this "Do you worship satan?". It is idiots that give Wicca a bad name, just because they believe that the pentagram is associated with evil and the devil.

Lol, I'm definately an atheist but Wicca seems to make sense to me.
But is a religion per se?
Do Wiccans partake in worship? Do they believe in a higher supernatural being or anything higher than us?
I'm just interested in Wicca; I believe in the threefold law, it seems like a logical concept.

I'm slightly Wiccan mysel, but I don't know enough about it to really be able to say that.

I've sorta created my own religion, where (as in wiccan) there is no such thing as the devil.
(there also is no such thing as evil).

My religion actually has no rules really, the only thing is to try and live this live the best you can and that is all that can (or shoudl) be asked
(notice I say THIS life, because in my set of beliefs reincarnation is a big thing.)

Anyway, nice article, you should write another one on some more specifics about Wicca.

I'm Christian and I believe that Wiccan isn't evil. One of my best friends happens to be Wiccan. Thank you for writing this and clearing up the misconceptions.

Wiccan isn't evil. And I'm a Christian saying this, but this seems the only place I can give for warning to others, and no I'm not going to tell everyone their going to hell, believe what you want.

Not only that, If we did worship the devil it would go against the "Harm none" rule.

I'm glad someone wrote an article about Wicca.

Interesting. There are misconceptions about every belief though. But imo the Catholics are the most hypocritical. This is coming from an agnostic, but a little more on the atheist side, since I don't believe in a god, but i don't give a shit to find out, ya know. But it's interesting to learn about, wicca is extremely interesting.

You sound too angry and defensive for my taste. And you're super biased.

You're wiccan yourself, so that makes this article only one-sided. I view articles are something to discuss about, but this article is like a statement, I suppose.

But it was very informative, and I guess it's good to hear you don't worship the devil, hahaha.

Next time don't be so defensive/biased, it'll be more fun for other people to get involved in the article.

I just wish that you would've mentioned polytheistic religions as well, because I've heard claims that Hinduism (some call it a pagan religion) is the oldest religion. O.x

As a Pagan who wears their pentacles with pride, it's good to see some one sticking up for us. We most certainly do do worship the devil!
But Wicca has not been around that long. I mean yeah other forms of Paganism have been for a [i]very[/i] long time, but Wiccanism is not Druidism. It may be close to Druidism, as I'm not flat out Wiccan I don't know the real date, but I do know it was in the early 1900's that Wiccanism was founded.
