I love my school. One person posted something arguably homophobic- something about yes on prop 8- and he was instantly criticized by a mob of students, over the internet of course. Sure, he had the right to express his opinions about it, but we expressed our dislike of that opinion. =p
I'm lucky to live in a very open-minded part of the US.

I agree completely with this article. I'm not saying that all religious people are homophobic, but living in the Southern US, I get confronted with a lot of homophobic people every day, all telling me that gay people are going to hell. When they find out that I don't agree, they tend to look at me differently. o_e One kid tends to physically harass me. How mature. XD
Anyways.... yes. Homophobia is extremely gay. :]
And I don't even understand the insults "That's gay" and "He's such a fag." I mean, how is it a gay person's fault that you, say, lost your favourite pen?

The ill treatment was terrible! I don't agree with homosexuals preference, but they still are people! Lobotomies? How cruel.

If their parents are homophobes then fuck them anways, they're just going to convince their kid that being gay is a sin against 'God' and that those people will burn in hell. Frankly, who won't burn in hell? Perfect people, which is why there's practically NO ONE in heaven

I don't agree with the whole homosexual thing. I'm straight and proud. And if the homosexuals want to celebrate, then they can go ahead. And religion is what some people believe. If they believe it, then let them be. It's their life.

I'm not Homophobic, but I would NEVER be gay. I find that it would be disgusting to make out with a girl or even kiss them or whatever. But I have a lot of gay/lesbian friends, and I support them all the way. But I do think that straight people should be able to show their pride sometime, too. (:

To me, Homophobia really is gay. sure I'm an MCR fan and love Frank's tee, but homsexuals and bisexuals (my BFF is bi and I'm straght) are humans. Who cares if a dude makes out with another dude but has a girlfriend? I don't. Sure they act a little different but even though someone isn't straght, they might be a really good friend.

I was discriminated agianst in school because my mother is a lesbian. I think that Homophobia is very wrong. Its a disease just like AIDs and it hurts people just like war

Oh and religion has nothing to do with homophobia. Religion speaks against it, yes, but it doesn't mean homophobia. You love the people but dislike the ways. Which meaning, you don't agree that they are doing it, but it is completely fine that they are, and you love them.
Ya know, if they're a friend or what not. haha. Anyways.

'Gay' doesn't even mean homosexual- so people that get offended, you shouldn't. It means happy. It's just like saying stupid. Just wanted to put that out there.

You also needed to mention that there is a day for homosexuals. A day to be proud filled with festivals and everything else. It seems to be lacking something to me, and I think you should be more current with it instead of relying on past facts.

Going to an all girl's church of England school- I've seen a huge amount of homophobia in my lifetime.
The girls at my school were terrified of a "lesbo" being in the school, and being different in any way at all usually lead to that tag being whispered when when the person's name was mentioned.
Good article, I love the irony of the title. Frank Iero is pro!
varkatzas- homophobia refers to the irrational fear AND/OR hatred of gay/lesbian/bisexual people or behaviour. Just like xenophobia (which is a hatred/fear of outsiders and foreigners) or arachnaphobia (fear/hatred of spiders).
The title is meant to be hypocritical- it's an ironic consiousness-raiser desinged to make a person think.

Homophobia is actually the fear of gay people. Not hatred. :cute:

And I think the title is hypocritical. :XD
Other than that, I liked the article. :cute:

This was a good article and yes, Frank Iero is the genius who said, well, wrote the phrase on a t-shirt saying, 'Homophobia is Gay'. That it is, I read an article about a 15 year old boy who had admitted he was gay and was shot in the back of the head by his classmate in the middle of class. The article went on to say some bullshit about, "Are kids ready to understand this?" and "Are kids coming out to soon?" which really pissed me off. If a fellow fifteen year old boy can't understand what being gay is, it still doesn't give him a fucking reason to shoot that innocent kid in the back of the fucking head. Parents need to tell their kids what homosexuality is and tell them that it is not wrong. If their parents are homophobes then fuck them anways, they're just going to convince their kid that being gay is a sin against 'God' and that those people will burn in hell. Frankly, who won't burn in hell? Perfect people, which is why there's practically NO ONE in heaven.

I love it. I can't stand people that hate people for things they can't change. I know people are cruel and it really hurts when they call you things like "fag" and all those other hurtful things. I think we should trade places with these people to let them know how it feels.

Nice article.

I looked at it, wondering whether you were going to fire off at the church, but was glad to find it was more general.

Wow, this was written so well. I like that you had actual facts. I can't believe that those types of things happened in London. I'm glad that it's not as bad there. I hear the term "gay" as an insult every single day. It's ridiculous. Nice article. :]

I don't agree on just one thing. Homophobia isn't a problem just for the UK or US. That would mean only civilized countries actually have homosexual citizens. Which is plain wrong. In some countries in Africa you can get the death penalty if the Police finds out you're gay, in others you can go to prison. See where I'm coming from ?

I think that was true and good.
Nice information usage. I'd never actually heard of the 'Day Against Homophobia.' It's funny how the talk to you non-stop about not doing drugs, but my health teacher said two sentences about sexuality and homophobia.
