This was my childhood. There are so many fond memories including a game that my uncle made up and I played with my cousins. He will always have a special place in my heart.

He was my reason for existence. I couldn't go to school on the day he died, I was so upset. And I was 7. I'd grown up watching him.

I loved this man. He was someone looked up to as a young animal lover. I miss him so much.

I can't believe it's been six years... I still remember it as if it was just last week when the news broke. You'll never be forgotten Steve Irwin x

I remember when I was first introduced to Steve by my dad. I was five years old at the time, and I had all these images in my mind of how I'd get to meet him and have so many adventures with him. It's hard to believe that he's been gone for six years now. We love you, Steve Irwin. Keep hunting those crocs for us <3

My mom and everyone really in my house loved watching his show. He was an amazing person, and we were shocked to hear that he died, my grandma teared up because he was so a "great soul". He will be missed, and I really don't even get into any of the shows like his anymore, because he had such a great personality, just not the same without him.

but at least he died doing what he loved. That itself has always inspired me because I remember a lot of people were blaming the stingray, but something tells me Steve wouldn't have at all. Amazing man.
So true. In one of the memorial articles I read, it said Australian wildlife police found a bunch of dead string rays with their tails cut off on beaches after his death, and that made me so angry. That's not what Steve would have wanted at all.

Ahh I was so sad when I found out! I don't remember watching his show religiously, but I did tune in from time to time and he seemed like such a friendly and fearless kind of person. I loved his accent so much and I absolutely adored their daughter Bindy! She's a sweetie :) I thought about him from time to time afterwards and it's sad he had to go so soon, but at least he died doing what he loved. That itself has always inspired me because I remember a lot of people were blaming the stingray, but something tells me Steve wouldn't have at all. Amazing man.

I grew up watching that man. I was ten when I found out about him dying, and I cried. However, it's great that people haven't forgotten about him.

So happy to see this article. Steve was my hero as a kid, I always made sure I was in front of a tv when his show was on. I even had a little kid crush on him, and remember getting jealous the first time I saw Terri in an episode! :P I'm now in college pursuing a degree in Animal Behavior and I'll always think back to when I was a kid watching this great guy on tv I shared the same passion with. I always said when I grew up I would go to Australia and meet him, I still plan on going but I suppose I'll have to meet him in a different way now... Steve, you are missed worldwide mate.
