The Ghetto Handbook
The Houston city school system fired a police officer for creating and distributing what he called The Ghetto Handbook. Roby Morris, 34, worked as a Gang Investigator for 11 years for the Houston Independent School District before he was fired last week. He had though been on paid leave since last August.
The booklet was eight pages long and said that the definitions made a person sound as if they “just came out of the hood." The booklet was also subtitled, “Wucha dun did now?"
A spokesman for the school district, Terry Abbott, said “This incident represents an egregious violation of our standards of conduct and decency.”
Mr. Morris told investigators that he created the pamphlet to get back at his bosses. In his defense though, he said that he is married to a black woman and that they have three children together.
Mr. Morris never commented on any of this and instead chose to keep quiet.
One thing that comes to my mind, is why he chose to make a pamphlet to get back at his boss? What does “The Ghetto Handbook” have to do with his boss? How did his mind rationalize that? Did he think of consequences?
