Christian Convert is Threatened By Her Muslim Parents

Seventeen year old Rifqa Bary has runaway from home after threats that her devote Muslim parents made when they discovered that their daughter was a Christian convert. The girl said she left home after her father discovered her secret from her Facebook account. She fled to Orlando, Florida to seek the help of Minister Blake Lorenz and his wife Beverly that she had met on Facebook. Bary claims that because she was raised as a Muslim and converted to a Christian, Allah (The Muslim god) commands that she must be killed, and that it is a great honor to do so. The issue was brought to court, and her father denied the charges. He is convinced that the minister is "coaching" her, and forced her to say things about honor killing and the violence of Islam. The judge has decided that Bary will remain in Florida, under foster care, until the next hearing on September 3rd.

Many people seem to be skeptical of the young woman's claims, as her father was. It is highly possible that she could just be a girl seeking attention, but there is also a large possibility that she is telling the truth. It has been said that over 5,000 women and girls have lost their lives to honor killings, but you can't always believe what you read. Only time and the judge will tell what may really be going on here.
