Elegant Gothic Aristocrat, from what I know, is a male Loli style. Also, in addition to the ones you and I mentioned, there is also Nun Lolita, I think. I think your idea is interesting. I'd love to see more articles about the lesser know loli (as well as the lesser known Visual Kei) styles. Maybe even a piece explaining the difference between Lolita and Cosplay loli, too??? ALso, I'd like to see something about Gyaru and all the types of ganguro, too. These are just suggestions, though, you don't have to do it. :)

Try your local community's sales forums ^^
There used to be a lot of comms on live journal but most operate through Facebook now.
If you don't have a local comm, chances are the nearest big city does (which is the case for me)

Lolita can definitely be expensive, although it's really rare for a single item to cost 1k. An entire outfit, when bought from a retailer, definitely can cost over 1k. Baby has a store here in San Francisco and a full outfit from them would cost over 1k. Each piece ranges from $100 to $400. The dresses alone are usually $350 to $400.

Retailers like Baby definitely sell you the highest quality products that hold up the longest, but it's up to you if the quality is worth the price. Places like Amazon or even sellers on Estsy sell Lolita-esque items for much less. The way retailers take advantage of Lolita clothing is one of the reasons Lolitas encourage self expression and DIY outfits so much. It's cheaper to create your own outfit than buy one from a retailer, you know?

It is definitely about where you're looking. ^.^

There are definitely a lot more Lolita styles than listed in the article. However, most of them have very little popularity. Lolita is very do it yourself and for that reason, many styles do pop up but don't catch onto the popularity the other styles do .Listing all of the Lolita styles would frankly take forever and might not have even fit in one article. There are styles like Pirate Lolita, Alice Lolita, Military Lolita, Maid Lolita, School Lolita, Nurse Lolita, Cyber Lolita, Steampunk Lolita, Gyaru Lolita, and Mori Lolita. I've never heard of Elegant Gothic Aristocrat Lolita though.

However, all of these styles are rarely worn and very unknown. Some of them such as Maid Lolita are considered a style of their own because maid outfits are considered their own style often. For me, they weren't worth mentioning in the article because they are so rare and there already was far more style than I intended mentioned in the article. Lolita is by no means limited to the ones listed in the article. It's just that I chose to omit the more rare and unknown ones. ^.^

I could write an article going over the other Lolita styles though if it would interest people~ :3 I'm planning to do a series of articles on Japanese fashion from popular ones like Visual Kei to lesser known ones like Fairy Kei. So going over the rarer Lolita styles in an article is something I could add to the list of articles to write. c:

Isn't there also a style called Elegant Gothic Aristocrat and also a French Maid Lolita? There's also cosplay lolita, but, as the name suggests, that's just for cosplay and not legit loli.

This was a really great article~ I love seeing people explain the fashion and you certainly did it eloquently, Author.

The 1k mark is actually pretty rarely broken. Buying a full set of a limited or rare print might put you back $500-$900 dollars but most dresses are actually very affordable ^^ my most expensive dress is an Alice and the Pirates OP that cost just shy of $350, the rest of my wardrobe was probably around $100-$200 a piece, or are things I've made myself, which is an amazingly affordable alternative :D
