MCR save lives?... - Comments

  • It DOES get overused and what soda pop and ritalin said about the posers is really quite true (don't send me death threats or anything If I've offended you) but those who believe it, can believe it, and Cow is entitled to an opinion. We all are, it's a free country.

  • My profile says they saved my life, and I'm sticking by it. I mean, they didn't have to literally swoop in and grab me from impending doom, but when I was in a really dark place, the only things stopping me from ending it all was that I'd let them down, and going to hell. I know people keep saying it over and over and it gets overused, but trust me, there are some out there whose lives really were saved by MCR, and you can't disprove that until you experience it for yourself. I don't think you'd want that, no?

  • I agree and disagree. I feel there are kids who feel saved by them in some way or another that actually have strong reasons for this, but yes, a shit load of posers (dangerous word there) are just saying it to say it. And I'm sorry, but in some cases, it is unhealthy. Even as much as I feel they influenced a serious change in my life, I am the person who changed me. You are the person who changes you. If they help you along the way, that's great. It really is, I mean it. But the only person who can save you is yourself. And Cow's entitled to her opinion, that's why this is a blog. I sincerely hope they do "save lives" but I hope even more these kids realize they can save themselves.

  • This had already got enough attention, but I've got to put in my comment: On some wherabouts, you're right. They didn't PHYSICALLY save our lives. But did you ever think that maybe emotionally they put they put us in our places. They told us that it wasn't worth it to do what we were gonna do, to put the razor/gun/etc down, and they stopped us.
So no, Physically they didn't save us. But in my head, they DID save many lives. And I don't think that we're exagerrating either, I think that if that's what we think/know, then it is. If you don't like it, thats fine, but it'll never hurt me to say that they did, in a way, save my life. Sorry you feel differently.

  • it was a couple of years ago now, an i didnt completely, i still suffer from headaches an shit, but hopefully they will eventually go away, i actually had to have some brain scans last months and it was one of the scariest things ever, but i listened to mcr during it an i actually wasnt scared, or depressed ironically :), but i do agree with the view that people depend on them far too much, i mean what are they gonna do if they break up?

  • "Isn't it ironic that MCR music which most people would find depressing would have the opposite effects and bring hope to some people who were depressed?"
Yes I do find it ironic.

And I am critcal, but is just the way my brain works; pessimism over opitmism. Its just a case of how you see, do and feel things as an individual.
And mychemicalprincess, I hope you made a full recovery from your accident. :)

  • its not that u venting is wrong, but i think ur being overly critical of what alot of people here feel, i mean i know mcr didnt save my life it was the doctors in the hospital who patched me up after i got hit by a car that saved me, but mcr made me feel a hell of a lot better about my life as they werent pretending to be perfect like other stars, its obvious that mcr doesnt actually physically go out an save people but if people like to exagerate an say they hav been saved by them, just let them, its better then them still feeling shit about themselves

  • I think their music and quotes do help people and give hope, but ussually thats not enough on its own and its the person and family and friends caring about them that lead them to change and save them. Saying "mcr saved me" is an exaggeration and even if you think they did it was very indirectly and it was probably other things and people and events in your life and not just mcr. Yeah I agree with butternut. In the end Mcr are just a band and someday there won't be an mcr but they don't directly effect your life at all so you don't have to be dependent on them and its not healthy.

Isn't it ironic that MCR music which most people would find depressing would have the opposite effects and bring hope to some people who were depressed?

  • I totally understand. I'm with you, Green Day have been my favorite band since I was 4 years old and I have never had such a connection with something so strong like their lyrics. But, I can't say they saved my life, their music just soothed me through rough times.
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:37pm
  • A lot of things bother me and when they do, I vent. And sometimes I post them.
A release method if you will. But I also like to see what others think.

You make it sound like Im doing something wrong, when Im doing somehting that everyone here has done at one time or another.
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:35pm
  • it bothers u that much when people say this u had to post a whole bulletin about it, not to sound harsh, but u kinda need to get over it, if people believe a band saved them, let them, its not hurting anyone is it

  • I think they inspire us to save ourselves and they get us through stuff too.
Their music makes us feel like we are worth something. I guess it depends on how you look at it...
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:27pm
  • there's an element of dependance between you guys and MCR - it's not healthy.
I don't think MCR are on the scene to save lives, just to give hope. "Saving your life" is a complete exaggeration.
Plus, the majority of stories on this site are about gerard or frank or someone else in the band "saving" them from things like abusive relationships, or homes etc. i dunno...the whole thing looks like a complete fabrication to me. people are drama queens

  • Dude, I.Love.You. That was great. Nice quote from Mike, as well.
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:26pm
  • I don't think they've saved my life as such. Just made me open my eyes to things like people dieing etc and the music helped me get through a few tough times
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:18pm
  • i think wen SOME people "MCR saved my life", that's ok. but wen EVERYONE starts to say it, the novelty wears off, if you get my drift....i think some of you need to tone down the drama aswell
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:16pm
  • Actually no. Cos if I called you an asshole, I wouldve been calling you a roundabout or a swing too. Oh and a potatoe.
I was referencing Mike Dirnt he said 'opinions are like assholes; everyone has one'
No disrespect meant. Im not like that- im really quite nice.
    April 30th, 2007 at 09:05pm
  • okay, so im an asshole now...
