jely is usualy like liquid before its made, jam is made with purre and not juice. if u melted jam it would be liquid, if u melted jam it would be chunky...thats what my mom said,,,

I think that jelly is more processed and it also doesn't have seeds and it also is more jello like. Jam does have seeds and a bit more textured. My neighbor makes really really good jam =) haha

One is easier to spread than the other. That's what my parents said when I asked.

I've always thought that the difference between the two is that one has fruit chunks in it, and the other one doesn't? I may be wrong,..

haha I could be wrong, but I always thought it was because jam is thicker than jelly?
    maybe? lol
so that obviously requires two different names which, in turn, will cause much confusion. :]
^ did that last sentence even make sense? 'cause it did in my head...haha

We call it all jam here... so I don't know.

I used to get really confused when on TV they talked about 'peanut butter and jelly' because here jelly is what I think you guys call jell-o like, the crystals you put in hot water then put it in the fridge to harden. yeah... that's jelly for us and jam is the fruit stuff that's like... jam... I don't know.

    anyway...
