Oh! If you have strong feelings about fanfiction (or original fiction), and you'd like to argue why one is better than the other, you can do so in the Mibba magazine. If you'd like to participate in the Mibba debate this month and you can type up a well-written and thought out argument, feel free to PM me and I'll get you more information. This month's Mibba Debate is, of course, fanfiction vs. original fiction. :)

Finally someone who remotely KNOWS/UNDERSTANDS what they're talking about when it comes to this subject.

I can't understand for the life of me why this is even a debate! It just blows me away. To Each Their Own, people! Seriously.

This is the best...debate..? rant? about this subject that I have ever seen. It's hard to move me, but you did. Everything you said was true. Especially about how original fiction can be just as bad as fanfiction. I totally agree

I don't moan about fan & original fictions because... I know that unless I might one day develop writing skills like Steven King, have my books made into several motion pictures and am earning millions of dollars via the use of my computer and imagination alone - I am not qualified to criticize the work of others.

Even if it is just my opinion.

I like your journal. Very... honest. :)

    You know what?
I'm not even going to read all this because I agree with you from the first word I read. (Not literally but you know)
Even though I dislike fanfic with a passions, I know that Original Fiction can be just as bad.

Looouise: What I'm saying is that original fictions are more likely to be plagiarized, as in copied from another user by a user and posted on the same site, which in and of itself is not creative. From what I've heard, writing fanfiction is not creative enough; so, is it any different for a person to write fanfiction or to copy original fiction?

so sedated.: Glad to hear it. :)

I guess I'm still not getting it because you keep using the word plagiarize...Why does it all need to be plagiarized? Or are you implying that most or some (whichever, whatever) original fictions are plagiarized...?
(Sorry, I'm trying to get that all clear in my head).

Looouise: Some people think there needs to be more original writings on this site. My question is would it be okay if the more likely to be stolen, original fiction was plagiarized, because it would boost the originality count? As opposed to fanfictions being plagiarized and posted.

would it be any better that an "author" steals original fiction and posts it instead of stealing fanfiction and posting it?
    ^^ I don't get it?
