Actually, I'm pretty sure the big Official mental health rule book classifies homosexuality as an abnormality in the brain. Like a disorder, but it doesn't hinder people in any way like depression would.

But it is nice that you're spreading acceptance...
And I would never want to change myself...
I just think the research behind it is cool.

Well...Technically...Since it's genetic...There is the possibility to change it.
I wouldn't call it a cure, because that suggests going from bad to good...
But there is the possibility that it can be changed in the future.
So...Why not let doctors try?
I can't say I like their reasons, but why not let them research it?
And before you try to bash me....I'm gay.

FYI. They are still working on trying to cure Cancer and AIDs. That hasn't stopped, and by creating this new field...nothing is being taken away from people researching cures for other diseases.

And you know, maybe if they do happen to find a cure...which will have something to do with the gene pool...then who knows. Maybe people who get harassed all the time or are subjected to frequent assault because they're gay and they're not living a happy life and wish for a way out...maybe that would be a case where people would say 'yes' to the cure.

I don't think it's a disease, but it is in your genetics. My sister did a research paper on it. I don't really know the facts, but at the same time I don't really care.
My sister is a lesbian. I'm bisexual. I'm starting to think it runs in our family. Haha.

You can't really cure it. You can scare someone into believing it's wrong, but that's about it. I think if someone tried to 'cure' me, I'd just lie. I like the way I am. :)

Though I completely agree with you, there are a few things that you need to look at. There are doctors/scientists out there who are studying homosexuality, yes. But they aren't all doing it for how you put it off. I'm not saying some doctors aren't doing it for a disease, BUT, they aren't all.
Doctors/scientists have been doing RESEARCH on homosexuality, trying to figure out what the difference is, which no does not mean they're treating it like a disease. They've done research and have come to realize there are these two chemicals in a humans brain (I can't remember the names) but it pretty much means the more of one you have then the other can be a trait towards your sexuality. I'm not sayig that is the ONLY reason either, but it's been proven to be a part of it.
So, though I agree with you, you should probably do some research before going off.

thats funny what your brother says, but if you think about it.... its so true! i don't know why people think being gay is wrong. i mean, as long as you are not the gay person, you shouldn't be worried about it. also, you know how people say you can't be born gay? yes you can! that's just like saying you can't be born straight. hello? being homosexual is just a way of life.

People have been trying to "cure" homosexuality for a long time now... and every time I hear about a case of this, it makes me sick.
There are actually camps that say they'll make you "better," make you straight, and attempt to do so by making you watch gay things on a television set and actually fucking ELECTROCUTE you when it comes on, to try to make your body automatically think it's wrong. Think that, if you do that, or see it, or like it, you'll get shocked again.

I grew up with a family who accepted me for my sexuality, and never thought it was wrong for a second. I had no idea things like this went on for so long, because I thought everybody was fine with it, until I met a boy who was sent to one of those camps. It breaks my heart that people are like that, but it's a part of life. I have to hope that one day it's all going to stop, because I don't want to be sent to one of those camps. I don't ever want to hear about anybody I will ever meet going to one either.

So I'm glad you're telling everybody who can read this about it. Ignore those who say that writing this is stupid or pointless, because it's not. Every day, people are becoming more accepting, and it's important that we try to help that process along. THANK YOU.

You know, I never read rants about homosexuality simply because it results in fights. Debates, some call it. I'd just like to say even though you warned people about cussing, you do need to censor it. I'm sure you know what that means, right?
