People don't think into the deeper meanings in life because you don't really need to, to appreciate what you have and what is in front of you.
You kind of pointed out two different things there though. You're saying that people should think about important things, being when they will die and when the world will end. Personally I don't think that, that is important. And people probably don't think about that because it's rather upsetting and it'll just make them worry.
Then you mentioned how people should be grateful. Being grateful and wondering when you're going to die, etc, are two different things. XD
