The Oil Spill in the Gulf - Comments

  • Well thanks for all the different points of views.

and Queen Issa yeah I suppose you're right. It is good to know what is happening, but I just get bored when the news comes on and talks a little about what happened that day and then spends an hour talking about the spill and just repeats the same thing.

Audrey T- Yeah that's true about the organizations, but I just wish more people could help out so it won't take till the middle of fall to get it all cleaned up. However, not many people can just drop everything to help out. I guess all I can do is wish.

  • Actually, the families who are suffering direct loss from the oil spill (aka: fishing companies, etc.) are being helped by the government and BP is supposed to pay them money as retribution. I guess we'll see how that works out? (lol ::eye roll:)

I dunno, I don't mind hearing about the oil spill. It is pretty damn important that they get this figured out. I know there isn't anything I can personally do to help, but I like to keep updated on what is going on. I hate how they don't keep us informed enough!
And we can't really rely on the government to just take care of this. It takes a lot of money to figure this out and the government should not be responsible for BP's problem.
What I hate is how Obama actually tried to pass a bill to outlaw offshore drilling and it was put down. ALL politicians are in the rich business man's pocket! Ugh, I just can't voice my disgust.

But yeah, that's just my opinion :D

  • The government isn't stepping in for a lot of reasons. One being, this simply wasn't their fault and although it's affecting US citizens, it's not really their responsibility to clean it up, it's BPs.

And there is no fool proof plan, which is one of the issues with incidents like this. Accidents can always happen.

Many organization are helping out with the clean-up and attempting to protect the wildlife (and people) affected by this.

  • Well, I think the reason why it went some 40 days before the president got involved was so they could point the finger and say this is why we need to get rid of fossil fuels. No one is arguing about finding alternatives, there just isn't that much available. What the hell are we supposed to run on? Unicorn milk and rainbow juice?

I'm just glad they got the damn thing capped. Temporary or not. It's holding it together while they find another way to clean it all up.
