I completely agree with you on the 'traditional college experience', it's definitely not something for everyone. Basically where I live people view it as this super negative thing if you don't get an Honours or Master's degree at University, you're basically fucked for getting a job later on down the road. But I really don't want to waste my time at the Uni I'd be going to where there are 200 kids in one class and the prof never gets to learn your name. That really bugs me. At community college I find the classes are much smaller, you get to know your prof, and you're doing something more hands on, and you're learning about stuff that you could potentially care about. Sorry that's my rant on the stupid Canadian post-secondary school system. It could go on for much longer haha. But it sounds like you've got a good idea of what you want to do, which is awesome and I wish you the best of luck with your courses!
And it's poop that you're not coming to Lehigh :( But yes, it is very very very expensive. They really do try to milk out all of your money. If I got no financial aid/scholarships or whatever then I certainly would not be going either. But just know you can always visit me again and rage hahaha.
I'm excited for your other internet babies ha. I want princess lessons.
