Just Because I'm An Atheist Doesn't Make Me A Bad Person. - Comments

  • Whoever said that to you is a real retard. There are two magic words for these kinds of people. They are "F*ck off".

  • I personally find it kind of hard to believe in a God, and kind of hard not to. Sometimes I believe that we're just reborn, and sometimes I believe that we live somewhere eternally as ourselves. I don't really know which I prefer.
But most of my friends are religious, and almost none of them see athiests or non-christians as bad. I mean, they know that I'm not all that sure, and they treat me exactly the same as they treat anybody else, christian or no. I know you said that you weren't saying all are judgemental, but just pointing out. :)
I think it's because they're religion is so... separating, I guess, that they feel the need to bring as many people in as they can. I guess that's another reason why I rfind it hard to believe in the Christian God - when I learned that my family and most of my friends were athiest, I just couldn't believe that heaven would be "perfect" without them. It would be hell.
But back to the journal, I do think people who do judge are unfair, and I do agree with you that it doesn't matter what you believe in, but there are also people who don't judge, and are just trying to "save" you. And I'm sure there are plenty of athiests who complain that Christians are boring, goody two-shoes, ect.

  • It's okay to have different religions/beliefs. I still can't fully understand why everyone can't just understand that everyone has their own opinion, and to let them keep it. With religion, especially, it seems people get mad at each other. If people stopped shoving their own religions on one another, the fights would probably be a lot less...

I mean, even my boyfriend -- an Atheist -- tries to argue with me occasionally, because, due to me being Agnostic, he says that I'm, "just afraid God will be mad." I don't fight back, though. I just say, "No, but I'll let you think that if it makes you happy." Because, really? You don't need to argue about it.

Sadly, even my own mother has been mean to me about religion before. A couple years ago, she was talking about how she would pray and didn't understand why God didn't answer her, and I just off-handedly said, "well, I don't have that problem, because I don't pray. I'm Agnostic..." And, in turn, she yelled at me, telling me that maybe it was MY fault that we were having poor luck.

...Yeah. Religion fights are stupid. People should just accept one another for what they think and how they feel about things. Religion included.

  • I know. I broadened it in a way that I thought implied that I was trying to branch out from the religion issue...Guess it didn't work.

  • V. It's not about religion. It's about, you have something to say, a long as you're not bashing or ridiculing someone, say it.

  • What Bipolar Halo said! If the Christians can voice their opinions, so can the atheists. And the Muslims, and the Buddhists, and anyone else who has an opinion!
    September 13th, 2010 at 07:22am
  • V. Don't stop voicing your opinions. I'm Christian and although i was taught everything Dr. said, I'm not practicing it either. I can't have a religion fight with anyone and honestly, this was interesting.

  • AnneAlysse:

I know! I wasn't sure if I should have posted this.
It seems like I started a religion fight.
    Ohwell.
I guess I wont voice my opinions on this anymore.... to much trouble.

  • And that all started because you were planning to rot in the ground like everyone is destined to...Awesome.
    September 13th, 2010 at 07:14am
  • I do understand what people are telling me.

"You're implying that I'm being hypocritical"
That is what you said. I was not implying anything. Implying is basically like judging.

I have nothing further to say.
    I agree to disagree.
    September 13th, 2010 at 07:11am
  • I know you're not judging me. That's not what I said. I think you should try to understand what people are telling you. Open your ears, close your mouth.

I'm done, and God bless you.

  • Dr. :

I am not in anyway judging you!
I just dont want you shoving your christianity down my throat.
And excuse me I have read the bible, I used to go to chruch that is what made me an atheist.

No offence I dont see any reason for us to talk any longer if this conversation is just going to be about a religious rant.
    September 13th, 2010 at 07:06am
  • Okay first of all I am no twisting his words, I am asking him why are certain things allowed.
He is allowed to have opinions on me being an atheist and I am allowed to have mine.
And I dont create future sins... I live life like a normal being.
I live by good morals and I dont think people should be allowed to judge me on not being religious that is all.

  • Where were you when he made the sky and the sea and the land you walk on?

You do not know his reasons for doing things, because you're a mortal, he is not. He was always here, is here, and will always be here. There is no way we can wrap our heads around this or some of the things he does. I don't know why he sends people to hell, nor do I know how often he does it and for what reasons. The Bible gives us ten commandments to follow, and if we are saved...well, we can break those commandments, but with Jesus' blood shed for us, we can now just repent with a true heart. If a rapist or murder is saved, and he goes out and rapes or murders people, and repents with a half-true heart, then of course he will not go to Heaven. God said so in the Bible, which I believe strongly in.

If you don't, why do you keep making it a point? Why not try to read it and figure it out?

Also, could you stop persecuting me? You're implying that I'm being hypocritical or that I'm lying to you, when all I'm doing is trying to bring you to Christ because I truly love you. Why? Could we just talk, not argue?

  • Clearly, someone's trying to fulfill their conversion quota! How...fun.
    September 13th, 2010 at 06:59am
  • v No offense, but I think you're twisting his words. A lot.

He is simply trying to explain to you about his beliefs and give some advice. You don't have to twist it and make it seem like it.

Yes, God is Merciful and He is Forgiving. You are human [we all are, o'course], so you can't understand the extent of his Graciousness, but yes, He will forgive if the person repents and avoids doing the mistake again.

We ALL make sins. You can learn from previous mistakes but that doesn't mean you won't create future ones and that is where God comes in. No matter any sin you create, as long as you repent and correct it, God shall forgive you.
    September 13th, 2010 at 06:58am
  • Oh jeez.
He will judge me because I dont believe in him? Even though I am a good person and I live my life with purpose? So anyone has a free pass to salvation even rapists and serial killers? They are allowed into heaven if the repent? But someone like me will burn in your "hell" just because I didn't want to be scared into your religion of a false hope for everlasting life?
I guess I will go have fun "chasing the wind" as you put it before.
    September 13th, 2010 at 06:53am
  • Dr. and Chemical I'm trying to make light of a situation that seems to be going from bad to worse. You guys speak religion, I'm going to far away.
    September 13th, 2010 at 06:53am
  • God will judge you, then. That's all, I suppose. A life without Christ is like chasing the wind. And now you're going to chase that wind on your own, because you've denied my help. So, God will judge you.
    September 13th, 2010 at 06:50am
  • See no matter what we are all sinners.
That makes no sense, we cant make mistakes and learn from them?
Oh and to quote you from before : " NO I AM NOT FORCING CHRISTIANITY ON YOU."

I thought you were not trying to convert me.
Obviously I will not be in Christ with you, as I am an atheist. -.-
You converting me is like trying to hear the noises a giraffe makes.
( giraffes noises cannot be heard by human ears)
I will be an atheist, and you can be a christian.
    I wont judge you
    and you shouldn't judge me.
