Twilight really doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. - Comments

  • 1. Actually to tell you the truth, I just hate all the hype that's been drummed up about it. The Edward fans and the Jacob fans all hating each other and stuff. O.o But personally, I've never really read the books, though I watched the first two movies, and yes, I like Jacob. But I am not gonna go announce all over the internet and tell every Edward fan I meet that they suck... I think the book is a little predictable but it's still pretty good. I've only read the first book. It's all the fans hating each other that ruined it for me. :/
    2. Yes. I do it all the time. It let's the writers release their tension and stress. Look at what it did for C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and Stephanie Meyer. Sorry If I spelled their names wrong.
    3. >> For the masses, yes it is, but to me, it's just plain silly. Like I said, don't hate Twilight, I just don't do vampire romances like that.

  • 1. I don't hate it, but I'm not a huge fan. I read the books before the movie was out. I'll watch the movie if there's nothing else to watch. But other than that. I'm okay with it. But I personally think that most people that I know hate it, only hate it because of all the fan girls. I mean, the first movie premiere (I've gone to them, I admit) was awesome, fans who read the book (before the movie came out) were there. It was great. But not it's just idiotic fan girls (no offense I promise) who just yell out when RP or TL come out shirt less. Or yelling "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" through out the whole film. Even if I tried to have a good conversation with most of these girls they wouldn't know what I was talking about (I would refer to the book). It's frustrating. /rant

    2. Yes, it's a huge success, especially more so if people enjoy it.

    3. Hating Twilight isn't a fad for me, but I could see how it implies as a fad. I just say it should have stayed a book. The movies wouldn't have ruined our imagination if we read the books, and hating it wouldn't be such a big issue.

  • I'm glad i found this

    1. I like the books, they're easy to read, and sometimes witty. However, i'm not creepily obsessed.
    2. Anyone who has the imagination to create a whole new world earns respect from me
    3. when i first read Twilight i didn't know what it was, or what it was about, or that it had such a huge fandom. In general i do think hating Twilight is a fad. I've heard so many people complain about it and they've never read the book, which didn't make sense to me...

movies and books are two different areas and shouldn't even be compared, most of the time.

  • 1. I hate twilight, (but I do like Vampires and Werewolves.) I wont touch, look, or even read/watch the movies +books. Cause of what she done to Vampires and Werewolves. First, Vamps not suppose to "Sparkle" and Secondly Werewolves dont turn into big dogs; as seen in the movies. Vampires and Werewolves are mostly taken as Vicious Creatures of the night. At some points it should stay that way. Depending on the writer, not all this lovey-dovey crap she is trying to pull.

    2. Yes I do agree

    3. When someone or bodies like something there is always the "fad" of hating it also. The feuds it brings. Just like the Justin Bieber Vs Nick Jonas feuds, etc. There will always be fans and haters. NO matter what is out there.

  • 1. I don't like it at all. I'm not going further than that, because then this comment would be longer than need be. So I'll just leave it at, I don't like the books nor the movies.
    2. Of course. Creating a new world is difficult for a lot of people, do it's pretty amazing when someone can do so. Whether the person likes this world or not.
    3. For a lot of people, it is. It's become 'cool' to hate Twilight just as it was 'cool' to like Twilight a few months back. As for me, I don't dislike Twilight to follow a fad. I could just never get into the series.

  • I like the series, not enough to spaz over though, but all I have to complain about really is that I thought it started off kind of slow until it came to Eclipse. Then it just kind of ended. Breaking Dawn is the only one I own and will read over and over.

~That must be a really rich kid to buy all of those copies. -_-' [ /sarcasm]

  • 1) I don't care about it. The first book was OK, and writing was average (though repetitive, and the term chagrin was sorely overused). I think it's good that Meyers wanted to do her own twist on the vampire-werewolf thing, and some aspects were fairly interesting. (But I fail to understand why the vampires turn to diamond in sunlight... o_O? An explanation for the point of that would be nice. As my biology teacher forever reminds us: Everything in biology serves a purpose (yes, I know Twilight is fantasy, but still... a well explained story is so much more enjoyable to me ¬¬) Also, I can't pick up a single teen book these days because 99% of the time, it seems to be an angsty human girl falling in love with an angsty hot, supernatural dude.

    2) Yep. Fantasy is a wonderful, unrestictive genre. It's always good to make something new. :)

    3) Yes. Haters often complain that the fangirls are immature (many are, I've noticed, however plenty are nice people.) but haters are just as immature if not worse. -_-
If you hated it so much, you wouldn't keep on about it, hence, tis a fad.

  • 1. Never read the books, but I like the movies.
    2. Yes if it is fanatsy, why not create a new world
    3. I think it is. I mean I have heard people actually buy the tickets just to bash the movie. Talk about pathetic.

  • 1. I love the books, especially Breaking Dawn. It's the craze that the Twilight fans have me detesting the movies. Some people just don't like the way she writes and that's fine with me, I could care less. However, I won't tolerate someone telling me that they hate the books without having read them. It's pointless. Read them before you judge.
    2. Of course.
    3. I think it depends on the person. Some people read the book, but don't like it and others just don't like it because of whatever reason. Like I stated, I read all four of the books, I own them, and I love them but my boyfriend has read the first book and just didn't like it.

Edit: I agree with dexter, I hate the HP and Twilight comparison. I don't think they have anything in common besides the fantasy factor.
    January 22nd, 2011 at 12:25am
  • I watch New Moon and Eclipse for Alex Meraz and Taylor Lautner. *no lie* The movies aren't the best, the books...were amazing I was dragged in from the third page.
    January 22nd, 2011 at 12:23am
  • I hate when people compare HP to Twilight. They're not the same, there is no comparison at all. All that 'HP is better!' or 'Twilight is better', is annoying. -.-"

    1. I liked Meyer's writing style. It's simple and...teenage-like. x3 The plot wasn't original but the twists and whatnot made it something different. I don't think I can hate it, but it's all in preferences, I suppose. Are there better books out there? Definitely. But going to such extreme as to claim it's the "worst piece of trash ever written" is going overboard. I liked the books and the movies. :D
    2. Eh, depends.
    3. Yes, for the majority of people. Also liking Twilight seems to be a fad too. Both sides are flawed.

  • 1. Two years ago before the movies came out, I absolutely loved Twilight! My friends bought me posters, yet I hadn't seen the movies and then I watched it and totally fell out of love with it, it wasn't as magical to me. Now I will be negative but the characters are just not quite fitting to the written ones. Although I like Alice, Rosalie and Carlisle. When I saw Eclipse (okay like twenty minutes of it) I turned it off, the part where they kill the newborns is atrocious to me, the way they portray the vampires dead bodies it's really hideous to me, almost as if it were a low budget film. Besides they barely take any time to breath in between movies, wow major preparation. But yeah that's my opinion.
    2. Of course, I love fantasy and unrealistic stories, that's the beauty of it all.
    3. You can hate it, but don't constantly say it, alright you dislike it, there, it's done.
    January 22nd, 2011 at 12:20am
  • Well, if I made a book that everyone thought was crap but sold millions of copies and made me some serious dough, well...
I wouldn't care. I'd be rollin' in my expensive car and wearing my expensive clothes I'd drive by your non-expensive house.
    "U MAD?"

  • 1. I'll admit, I brought the books way before they were even read by ANYONE I knew and before any talks of a film came into the papers and everything. The first read of them, yeah sure they were okay. I done what I did with every book, shouted at the characters and talked to the book when they were doing something I knew they shouldn't. Then I reread them, and found....lack of a plot-of such. I can't say it's gone none, coz it does. But I mean, book 1: love Edward nearly dies coz she's 'clumsy', book 2: lose Edward, nearly dies just to see him and abandons all her friends and her dad just for him, book 3: once again, repeat of the first two. book 4: the same.
    2. I do agree, but I found that the sparkle in it was maybe a step too far.
    3. Ech, it's like marmite. You either love it or hate it.

Also I would like to say, book 4 was the worst book for me. One, Bella should have died, no question about that. Two, it was stupid for Jacob to goes from lusting over Bella to imprinting on her five minute old hybrid. Three, there should have been an epic battle, there just should have been!

Also, Bella is a bad portrayal of a girl. No one's that clumsy. And she's a role model yeah? So she's teaching girls to Abandon everyone they love and care for just for a boy.

  • I personally feel to all the haters like... well obviouslys he must be doing something right because she is famous and you are not lol.

I really enjoyed the books and I was team Edward up until the movies came out and Now I'[m teen Jacob because I didn't even like RP in the HP films as cedric so =/ yeah. The movies also disappointed me as they often do with not being accurate to the vision I had in mind for the story but that's what movies do I guess. Movies are ok and books are good thats about as far as I go with it.

  • 1. I honestly like it, I mean it's not on my list of To Watch Again ( not that I have one xD ) but I suppose I enjoy it. I like the story line but sometimes I just think "Throw some positivity in there for god sake she loves you?!" But whatever, that's just him right?
    2. I think because J.K.Rowling was such a success and that HP seemed to get more press and attention that it feels like it was her that did it so well first, and there were kids who started reading when they were younger so they grew up with it, where as Twilight was slightly for the older generation, you know what I men?
    3. I think it's starting to pass, people I know have stopped hating on it, they just act like its another book or movie ( which kind of suck compared to the books )

And I can see some Twilight crazed girl in her basement just stroking all her twilight copies ... *_*

  • 1. I don't hate it, and I don't love it, so I'm Switzerland.
    2. I agree.
    3. It shouldn't be.
    January 22nd, 2011 at 12:12am
  • 1. She's an amazing writer, I will admit. Her book The Host is one of my favorite books. But I just despise the idea for Twilight, and her characters in the book were just extremely boring to read about.
    2. Yes, I do agree.
    3. Not for me, but for a lot of other people, yes.
    January 22nd, 2011 at 12:12am
  • 1) I'm more neutral I shift between hate and eh like. I just have this thing against sparkling vampires...
    2) yes, I do agree with that
    3) yes I think it is. It's a reaction to all the tweenies who fawn over it honestly.
