IS THE 'IT GETS BETTER' PROJECT A JOKE? - Comments

  • When ever I think about the it gets better project it reminds me of my friend Jarred he gets a bunch of cruel BS that he doesn't deserve he is nice to everybody[/]. Here's a band that supports that project. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP4clbHc4Xg&ob=av2e I love that video. Hmm for a story you could check out my story Enslaved to Darkness if you want to.

  • Well, I'm gay and went through a lot of denial and ignorance for my sexuality.
And I can say the videos have helped me. When I'm down in the dumps or just dim about the future, I can literally go online and see that people CARE about me. It just seems pessimistic or plain abbrasive to just shrug and say, "Oh, they don't really care."
One kind word can make a person's life.
And one bad thought can end it.

Maybe I'm saying this cause I was never one to commit suicide, but those videos help. They show LGBT youth that there are people out there living happily and it's possible.

And I know videos can't change the world all the time, but at least it's starting something, getting a positive word out there.

  • I've spent 16 years going through more hell than most people have gone through in a lifetime. I don't think it gets better. I think though, for some people, this project will help, because everything's dependent on the individual. Some people will be helped massively by it. Some people will still die. You can't save everyone.

  • I know this project is trying to help people, but I don't know how much I like it. It doesn't always get better for some people. There's no guarantee it will get better and sometimes it won't. So that's why I sort of don't like this project.

  • Of course no one thinks the world will ever get better when they've been through something horrible like your friend has. But maybe it will; you never know what's going to happen in the future.

  • i'm assuming what they mean by that project is basically like a 'time heals all wounds' type thing..? because i have no clue what it is, this is the first time i've heard of it. but yeah, i don't think anyone would pay thousands of dollars for a joke.

  • I don't know about the project, but it all depends on the person. Sometimes, people who tend to have "bad luck" all the time never seem to see what life can really be.

I understand about your friend's position. My brother died last year in a car accident.

Honestly, it won't get better if she, or anyone else, doesn't think it will get better. If something tragic happens to someone, and they mainly focus on solely that and always feel down, they're always going to be down until they decide that feeling that way isn't going to make life any better.

I've been bullied before too in school, I guess everyone has, but that was a long time ago. People don't really tend to say anything to me. I don't mean bullied like getting hit or anything, but more like everyone would make fun of me.

It took me until about last year and this year to realize I don't give a sh*t about what anyone has to say except me.
