Copyright problems..... (Please read!!) - Comments

  • There's a lot of controversy over this because it allows for innocent teenagers doing simple things to be thrown in prison, and that's f*cking ridiculous. I'm against this wholeheartedly. It better not pass.

v Actually, it does cover all of those things. A lot of people would be in trouble. Just because it won't affect me directly doesn't mean I think it's an okay and just thing to do...

  • Honestly, everything has it's limits, and everything has (What's the word?!) Ugh, for lack of a better word; loopholes. I don't think anyone will ever be persecuted for covers of songs, I mean, we've been doing this for a long long time. And if anyone were persecuted over that; it definitely wouldn't be celebrities. Have you noticed they get away with most everything?

I really don't think it would cover all of that range in the first place, because I don't think it would pass if it did. It would mess up a lot of things that make money around here, and that's all people really care about lately...If you haven't noticed xD

But honestly, if they do pass it; I won't be bothered. I don't write fanfiction or even use copyrighted things. So, I'm good. And honestly? I'm tired of seeing pictures of anime or whatever instead of real people, so if that stopped that (Which I highly doubt) it would be a big relief.

  • I agree with Katsumi.
This is both a bad thing and a good thing.
Many people or rather companies, authors, and the such all like the fan bases that form and write and draw their characters in unique situations and see what could have been. I mean I'm planning on writing a Thunder Cats Fanfiction (actually I am) and I'm writing it as a fan of the cartoon/comic series and I was inspired with my own events from the show/comic to write a fanfic. Ann Rice and J.K. Roweling enjoy seeing all of these fan bases getting inspired. As a matter of fact, it was Ann Rice who redefined Vampire Fiction with her stories of Lestat and the other characters in the book series and J.K. Roweling redefined the Fantasy Stories.

So if this law were to be passed then that would mean that Hiyao Miyazaki and all of these other Japanese people who are creating stuff from the Western influences would be easily sued for using the general ideas, such as his anime movie, Howl's Moving Castle. It was originally a book by Diana Wynn-Jones. And I'm sure Diana wynn-Jones is really happy seeing her book as a movie.

So, in the end, it's not a bad law but it's not a good law either. It's gonna be a hit or miss.

  • I don't think the law will actually get passed if this law where to get passed youtub would be shut down because almost everything they have on the websit is copyrighted some way some how...

If they pass this law a lot of other stuff would be shut down because if this law gets passed that means you could get in trouble just for using a fave quote of a movie or something like that because you didn't get permison before using it...

I got introuble in hight school once just for using the quote "It was the best of times it was the worst of times.." And there was no way I could get permision for that the guy who said it is dead...

I'm thinking if this law gets passed its going to be more for companies and people who don't want their things to be stolen or leeked online like a lot of stuff has been and it will help protect...

I think if this bill gets passed and is used properly it will be a good thing because it will help people like Anne Rice and J.K Rowling who have both stated that they do enjoy fan fiction.

Though Anne Rice says she doesnt want any of her charecters from the Vampire cronical books in any fan fiction, and if you're caught writing her fan fiction she can and will sue you.

J.K Rowling adores her fan fiction and has no problems with her charecters being in a fan fiction but she asked anyone who writes fan fiction to not put her charecters in sexual situations or much like Anne Rice she can and will sue you.

So I think if the bill is maybe only passed to keep people from going against the wishes of people like that and I think it might also just be to keep people like Netflix from putting movies on their instant que that they didn't get permision to put on there..

I can see this bill being a good thing and a bad thing at the same time I mean everyone need protection
