  • Norwegians and Norway appreciate this kind of feedback. The man that did it is a Norwegian man, but enough information isn't found if he worked with anyone...

    Thank you.

  • I live about 2 hours away from Oslo.

The bombing in the capital and the shooting at the nearby island (Utøya) are both connected. 7 died from the bombing while 10 are confirmed dead from Utøya, although these numbers are expected to rise (they also found unexploded bombs at the island).

So far the reasons are speculations, but an islamist connection is possible. However, I'd like to point out that the shooter at Utøya is a Norwegian national. Also, our ruling political is the Norwegian labour party, while the shooting on Utøya was directed at the annual summer camp for the labour party's youth camp. I doubt that is a coincidence. We could just as well be talking about far-right extremist groups, but I guess we don't know that for sure yet.

Thank you though :) We're experiencing a horrible tragedy right now so your good luck wishes means a lot.

  • I've just heard from the BBC that the official death count for the bombing is 7, with many more injured. There's been an estimated 30 deaths in total, including the shooting.

The reasons why Oslo was attacked (or the reasons I've heard so far):
    - There are about 400 Norweigen troops in Afghanistan.
    - They are involved with Libya.
    - The countries terrorists want to attack (mainly, I'd think, the USA and UK) have too much security as a result of 9/11 and 7/7. Norway, however, didn't expect a terrorist attack, therefore they didn't have as much security - they were an easy target.

I really hope this doesn't happen again, to any country. The photos I've seen are beyond awful.
