    1. I like fanfiction, I guess it just depends if the story sticks to the celebrity's/character's true personality. I think it takes major skill to write GOOD fanfiction, I have to write a few more to brush up on my skills (I usually only write about less popular people just so I don't feel too self conscious....)

    2. I would imagine my writing is good right now, not amazing, but good. Right now, I have the idea of becoming an EDM DJ in my head, so I'm not pushing being an author out of my head, it's just not one of my biggest priorities in life. :3

1.) I like reading it at times, but origional fiction is as good as well. When I try to write fanfictions, I try to base it off an origional plot instead of the 'band boy/anime character/celebrity meets girl/is best friends with girl/arrange marriage to girl and they fall in love.

2.) I honestly don't know. I thought about becoming a writer, but I don't want to end up as a hobo on the street asking for spare change if that doesn't pan out.

    1. I don't read them much unless it's for a swap.
    2. I'd love a career in writing but I don't think ihave the ambition. That and I suck at keeping deadlines. I prefer writing original stories though.

    1. I only read anime fanfiction. Band fics creep me out. And at that, I only read fanfiction of series I really like. So it depends.
    2. Nope. Writing is a hobby and nothing more, I don't want a career and I have no desire to get published.

    1. Fanfiction, just like original fiction, takes a whole lot of creativity of the author's mind in order to give life to the characters they're writing off. The only difference, really, is that in fanfiction you have an established character; however, you still need to work on story and character development, incorporate the fanfiction character with other characters and make it realistic, much like original fiction.

    2. There are actually published books about fanfiction stories. The Looking Glass Wars Trilogy by Frank Beddor is one of my favorite examples. Three books based on both books by Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There.

I'm really not interested in a career in writing, but I do certainly enjoy it as a hobby and I write both fanfiction and original fiction stories.

I read a great quote in TIME magazine about fan fiction recently: "Fan fiction is what literature might look like if it were reinvented from scratch after a nuclear apocalypse by a band of brilliant pop-culture junkies trapped in a sealed bunker. They don’t do it for money. That’s not what it’s about. The writers write it and put it up online just for the satisfaction. They’re fans, but they’re not silent, couch-bound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language."

I thought it was beautiful, I dunno. I write fan fiction and original fiction, so I love them both. I don't think FF deserves a lot of the hate it can get sometimes, because it takes a lot of skill to take an already existing person/character and remodel them (or keep them in-character) and give them a personality, etc. I don't think writing fan fiction will hinder a writer at all. Some published authors started out writing fan fic, actually.

As for a career in writing, that's what I'm going to college for currently and I honestly can't see myself doing anything else other than what I love.

TL;DR - Proud fan fiction nerd writer who does want to publish one day :)

    1) I am a fanfiction writer as well, but I enjoy it my own ideas mainly on my own. Unless it's for a contest or I really like the idea, I won't right it. And it has to be really good for me to post it here.

    2) I would love to have a career in writing and I do feel if I do more for my stories, I may one day get published. It's a nice wish and dream for me.

I also feel where you're going, I agree greatly with what you said. The fanfiction on here is mainly band though from what I've seen <.< I ain't gonna shoot ya, because I'm busy dodging bullets with ya :D -shot-

I love it. I've been writing it since I was eleven years old, and I don't know when I will stop. I have written some original stories, but I don't have as much fun with them as when I write fan fiction.

I wanted to be an author when I was younger, and I'd still like to get at least one book published, but if it doesn't happen, it's not a big deal, and I don't think me writing fan fiction will really hinder that at all.

    1. It's how I started writing, but I tend to not read it. Unless it's for Harry Potter.
    2. Definitely. :D I really want to be a writer, as well as a musician and maybe something with comedy.

    1. It's okay. I never got into it. In fact, I didn't start any until this year. How many have I written? One. I think it's excessive here and unreasonable.
    2. I do want a career in writing, but I don't believe in myself enough to believe I'm going to get far. I always dreamed of being like Stephen King or Dean Koontz, but then I realized how stupid I was being.

    1. Love it.
    2. If I'm thinking realistically, I'll probably end up with a mediocre job in retail while writing in my spare time.

I write a lot of anime fanfiction too. Right now, I'm 16 and hanging onto my childhood as long as I can. For me, writing fanfiction allows me to explore different styles and genres to help me get a better feel for who I am as a writer. What I learn writing fanfiction, I can then apply to my originals. And I don't post many originals simply for the fact that I don't feel comfortable putting them out there before they're published.

    1. Fanfiction can help us grow as writers but I think there are too many bandfiction/real celebrity fanfiction. :/
    2. I'm sticking with fanfiction for now but I do want a career in writing. Who knows, maybe I can take some ideas from my fanfics and turn them into original stories. I already have two possible stories that I want to publish.
