Sure. Consider it an offer that's always open, and good luck with finishing your NaNo!

I'm not frightened, aha. Not at all. However, I strive to be able to write with my voice very present but have it more plot-based than voice-based which I've only really accomplished with my unfinished work Decembers. However, Tales is a perfect example of being able to be strong with both.

Um, I don't know how soon I'll start anything, as I have yet to finish my NaNo novel. I got to the 50K but it's still nowhere near being completed. However, I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Aw, that's so nice of you.

Also, don't be scared of me. I think I'm like four years older than you, and writing is my job. I never wrote at all when I was your age, so you've got a headstart!

I'm technically supposed to be working right now, but if you post something new you're welcome to approach me for some comment swappage. I'm down for it pretty much whenever I have time.

I also wouldn't trade this site for the world. Mibba is like home & with that, it's impossible for me to leave even now that I'm three years into this place.

I've been baffled for a while, especially considering I used to write some pretty bad fanfiction & had a ton of comments & subscriptions. Then, when I moved away from it two years ago, I felt strained to get a comment per chapter. & with that, often didn't.

Well, I even feel a bit intimidated by your figurative language especially because it's so damn good. However, I do get that people are hesitant to comment for different reasons. Although it still sucks to not get feedback, I can understand a bit.

I totally agree. I have a lot I'd like to do, like maybe get something published one day, but I know this is definitely not the place to launch a career. Maybe to get a small fanbase, but not much else beyond the tons of lovely friends to be made. You'd fit into my definition.

Swaps are about one third of what happens in the journals section. Just come here more often- we're a pretty fun bunch!

Also, thanks for reading the Tales! I was honestly a little baffled at first, too. About how poorly written fiction often takes preference over original stuff here, I mean. I was thinking of the audience on Mibba as looking for books rather than looking for friends and cheap thrills, and so I was treating it like an e-book store.

Likewise, I used to get cut about having silent readers and subscribers. I was viewing this as a literary critcism arena, and wasn't taking into account the fact that a lot of people are just shy or pressed for time (in fact, I've had people say they wouldn't comment on my stuff because they were intimidated). That doesn't mean they don't appreciate what they've read.

I guess the truth is that Mibba isn't where you go to launch a career. It makes an awesome distraction from my serious writing, though (I'm behind on, like, three deadlines at the moment and about to get my butt kicked), and I've made some good friends here. I wouldn't trade this site for the world.

Good idea. I thought swaps were dying out on here & I've been here for years.
Of my subscribers, they're more of the silent type & fiddle in at small numbers.
It's so disheartening, you know? By the sounds of it, I'm pretty sure you do.
As of right now, I'm on the first chapter of The Macabre Tales of Young Edgar & it's beautifully written & engaging. I just don't understand how stuff like this can be passed over while stories such as what's in this journal have hundreds of comments.

    Hey, I totally get this.

The internet is an instant gratification kind of place for writing. A lot of people here seem to distinguish between the kinds of things they look for in online writing (love scenes, fanfiction, song quotes) and the things they look for in books (where they go for serious writing and the stuff you have to sit down to absorb).

I've also really suffered at the hands of audiences who don't want to read something that takes time, or anything unusual. 95% of my readers and comments come from swaps.

I doubt your work sucks. It's probably just that when you put it on Mibba, you're competing for attention with every superficial distraction on the internet. Try doing some feedback swaps, and maybe you'll find out what people really think.
