I have to agree that your plan would be absolutely wonderful :). I often find myself wishing the exact same, you're not alone. Even in this journal I can tell you are a wonderful writer, so I think I'm going to go check out some of your stories :).
Honestly, I find it much easier to write about a character if I am connected to him/her in someway. It's much easier and allows me to put myself into the situation and get more lost into the story, which is awesome :D.
