I definitely know about the whole being the friend that's always there for a friend even if it hurts you.

I was in the same place. I dated a guy twice, we broke up the first time unofficially because he wasn't online for a long time. Anyway, he dated this girl for two years and even after he quit talking to me because of her, I was still there for him.

When he needed ideas on how to make her happy, when they got in fights, after they broke up and he was a mess, I was the one listening to him when he said how bad he was because she cheated on him and how he screwed up.

I was there when he kept telling me how he felt about her. I was telling him maybe things would work out and she would want him again. I never said one bad thing about her to him... even when I thought she was the worst person on the planet for what she did to him... All the while being hopelessly in love with him. Yeah, our past is a bit insane. We've talked about that stuff, about how I was hurt because of her... *sighs* Anyway...Sorry I ranted. I hope things work out for you. Maybe tell your friends you need a break sometimes.

I know exactly how you feel, love. I was always everyone's guardian. Now, I don't give two sh-ts about other people, frankly because I am sick and tired of taking in their worthless problems when mine are so much more worth the pain. I'm a lesbian and I always had my guy friends come and ask me about how to get into girl's pants. What is this? Really, it was disgusting and I would tell them to try and get to know them first before doing the nasty and what not.

Fact of the matter is, you don't live to please other people. And if you are constantly going to try and do that, then pain will weigh on your own shoulder. Face it, when you are in need of someone, they won't even give a damn about you like the way you do them.

I think you'd be more of a Superman if you just were honest (in a polite and orderly fashion, of course).
