Anti Depressants are one of the HORRIBLEST medications you can ever take, Ive never taken them myself and trust me.... Ive suffered the WORST on depression and self harming... its not easy, and your mom is not the worst person ever because she recommended anti depressants, she wants you to be happy and be have control over yourself. But she doesnt know maybe either how to help you or what to suggest.

But do talk to someone you trust about these things, about hurting yourself and all that, because it could lead to something very dangerous. Learn how to control your emotions and build yourself up emotionally and mentally. It is not easy, I know, Ive been there, done that, am I proud of it? No, not even a little bit, it sucks looking at those scars and taking you back to when that crap was done. Yea it felt good, but the effects later was really not that great.

Just for right now, talk to someone who can relate to you, or someone who is mature, wont judge, and will help you, like dru runs this town. said, a counselor or a doctor might help, and if you dont want to take anti depressants, then dont. I never took them, and I have a serious case of depression, so far Im working myself through just fine, of course with the help of my mom <3 But yea please do talk to someone about this, because you cant go through it alone, no matter how many times you tell yourself you can, you cant, your only hurting yourself more.

As a former cutter and someone who would be on medication if she had insurance, listen to your mother. She wants what's best for you. Medication doesn't leave scars that won't be able to be covered up later. it regulates your body with the right amount of chemicals as opposed to release a chemical into your body that creates a temporary high (like the body release dopamine when you cut).

I would strongly urge you to talk to a counselor or doctor while you have the chance and see what suggestions they have for you. Cutting is, in essence, simply a high that helps you escape reality. Medication helps you cope with reality.

Only a doctor or psychologist can reccomend taking anti-deppresants. If you don't want to take them they can't make you.
