I accept everyone's beliefs, and I honestly could care less what anyone else believes in. I have my own beliefs and that is all I am concerned about. I absolutely hate it when people try to shove their religion down my throat. I can't even begin to describe in words how irritated it makes me. People act like religion is some sort of prize to be thrown around, saying that if you believe in god, you're entitled to the best life ever, and if you don't then, you're immediately going to hell. I am the kind of person that believes everything has a scientific explanation. I've always been that way and I always will be. I have this one friend who is constantly begging me to accept Jesus into my heart and it bugs me because I don't bother her about what I believe in. I don't think it's fair. Hasn't anyone learned that using religion against someone else has done nothing but start wars in the world? I've only gone to church once, and to be honest, I fell asleep during it. Religion is just not my thing and I'd love it if people could respect that. :/

@ wicked schemes That's lame, I'm sorry. The worst that's happened to me in school involved a VERY rude English teacher (Who was violent with two of my friends at different points within the school year.) who decided to teach creationism during class time rather than focus on the subject at hand. I had pointed it out that it wasn't part of the schools lesson plan and it eventually turned into a full blown argument where I got kicked out and refused to go back for two weeks until they switched me.

@Kurtni I do kindly listen and kindly reject their offers to "convert" me but sometimes they go too far and I have to stand my ground. What I don't understand is the "in God's name" and "one nation under God" bits because a lot of people abuse it and twist it. Take the Rock Beyond Belief incident for instance. Atheists in the military were obligated to sit in for a Billy Graham sermon type thing without respect for their own person views, if I'm not mistaken. Not just that though, when Aiden was announced as a performer for the event it received a lot of backlash from people who said that the people in the military were fighting FOR GOD. I was in disbelief... But I do see your point.

@PinkiePromise My best friends are religious too, the majority of their household is (They're sisters.) and sometimes they go too far and I just go ahead and let them say all they have to say. One of the two doesn't respect my beliefs and that's fine, I respect hers. I've never tried pushing my views on anyone because I don't like theirs pushed on me. I'll listen to what they have to say and politely express my feelings on the matter, but that's about it. Reading the article mentioned today just frustrated me and I needed to vent :)

My three best friends are super religious and I'm over here like: "agnostic ;)". A lot of people ask me how I can be friends with people when they have such different beliefs than I do, truth is I don't mind when they bring up church or religion, they respect my beliefs and I respect theirs. I feel like some people need to understand that religion can't be forced onto someone, people have to find their own faith. If you don't like that someone isn't the same religion as you then avoid the topic and to the most extreme avoid the person, it's not that hard.

But, I must say I've met some very rude atheists who try to push 'non-religion,' which can be just as aggravating as the people who push religion.

Uggh, that makes me so mad. I live in a conservative state, and I know schools around here get away with that crap all the time.

Freedom of religion applies to the government, not the Evangelists who come knocking on your door at 6:00 am when all you want to do is sleep Laughing . The government cannot mandate or enforce a particular religion, but individuals are free to preach or share their beliefs with anyone who listens... like you're doing in this blog =] I think that's the way it should be honestly, because if someone preaches to me, I'd want the same freedom to tell them how wrong/bigoted/discriminatory, etc. I think their religion is.

    @ wicked schemes.
Do you go to a private school? If not, you should contact the ACLU, they'll stop that shit really quick.

Yeah in high school I refused to say "under God" or the pledge entirely because I don't believe n God, so they sent me to ISS for insubordination.
