You can find good stories if you look in the right places. There's a lot of crap on Mibba, yes, but there's a lot of crap everywhere. I've seen a lot more original fiction recently than say two years ago.

Eh, zombies are just the new "in" thing currently which is why everyone is so in love with them. It's like a few months back, vampires were the "in" thing but the "love" people had for vampires has faded and they've moved on to the next trend. The zombie trend too shall end and be replaced with yet another mythical creature trend... Or maybe another band craze. Mibba goes through these phrases every few months, it'll change again soon.

That being said, I don't really like your insinuation that things like blogs and articles shouldn't be considered "creative writing". Creative writing is not solely limited to stories and articles may be just as much "creative writing" as a story is. Like you said, this site is a creative writing site. That means it supports (or at least should support) all writing. I don't know about you or anyone else, but I do put a lot of effort into all of my articles and most of my blogs. About just as much effort as I put into my stories. I try to keep my blogs politically minded and make them get people thinking, so I would consider those part of my writing because I do put so much effort and emotion into them. Likewise, I try to put a lot of thought and emotion into the articles I write as well. Creative writing is not a synonym for stories and poetry. Stories and poetry are just two categories of the broad subject that is creative writing. Blogs, articles, tutorials, what's written for the magazine, and whatever else can also be considered "creative writing" and I personally think it's a good think Mibba addresses more aspects of creative writing rather than just stories and poetry. It is true those two are big parts of creative writing but they are not the only parts and the other parts should not be discarded and/or treated lesser.

Stories have not been forgotten. Poetry has not been forgotten. Just because Mibba has been adding new features doesn't mean things like stories and poetry are being forgotten. They are still a large part of this site and getting attention and updates (i.e. the new comment swap feature for stories). But Mibba also seems to be giving attention to other parts of creative writing such as article writing. I like that Mibba seems to be trying to acknowledge other aspects of creative writing, it makes this site more inclusive for all writers. Just as a writing site should.

I'm sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent. ^^ It just gets to me when people try to insinuate that things like article writing aren't as important as story writing and/or aren't part of "creative writing". Creative writing is a broad subject and there is more to it than just stories and poetry.

That being said, Mibba has changed. Some for the better and some for the worst. I think the better changes vastly outweigh the worse changes but to each their own. Good luck with what you decide to do. (:
