Completely discouraged from entering any official Mibba contest. Ever. That, and the lack of comments/feedback from Mibbians in general. - Comments

I wasn't ridiculing anyone, and I didn't know that someone had to bow out. I apologize if you thought I was being rude, also I apologize if I came off as rude. I never said they were doing it out of spite, nor did I ever think that. I posted this blog to rant, not to bitch at the admins/story editors/staff.

    @ pup.
Seriously agreed, but I'm starting to not want to post on this site and just keep writing in hopes that someone somewhere sees it and gives me feedback.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I know this blog was out of line I guess, I was just in a bad mood when I wrote it. I honestly might delete it.

Your blog just got me thinking, maybe the silent readers really enjoy your stories and they...don't know how to tell you that they do because I'm also a silent reader to a lot of stories and authors on this site. I mean I have almost no comments on some of my stories, but it doesn't really bother me because every time I update something or post something new, I get more readers and subscribers then before.

You can try doing a comment swap in your blog (like fandango said) and also try getting your stories out there. Like in every other blog or every blog you write, say a little something about your stories and include a little link and description to the stories you want feed back on.

I know not getting proper feedback on your stories is a bit frustrating, but don't give up so soon. Eventually, someone will step forward and tell you how much they love your writing or something. It's happened to me before.

Keep writing and don't give up. :)

I do agree with you. When you do get a comment, it's generic stuff like: 'Nice! I like it.' It makes it sound like they just posted on your story without even reading it in hopes of someone—maybe even you—clicking on their username and reading their material. Quite frankly, other websites are worse though.. like Wattpad and Quizilla. Absolutely no one on those actually say anything that's worth reading, or considering as criticism, no offence to them.

All you had to do was message a magazine member and ask about your comment. One of our judges had to bow out (for legitimate, personal reasons) and we had to reassign her stories to comment on to other people; someone must have overlooked yours. It wasn't out of spite or malice. A little common courtesy would have been nice, before you posted a blog flat out ridiculing the people who devote their time to running these contests and reading 20+ stories.

Aren't colloquialism's perfectly acceptable nowadays? That was a bit harsh, don't you think?

No, not because I didn't win. Because no one comments on anything ever.
And I am aware that those were grammatical errors, yes, but god dammit it's five in the morning.
And I never said I thought I was the next Shakespeare.
I don't know why you're commenting on this if you want to be so negative, I never asked for sympathy. I just was ranting.

Just because you didn't win, means that you're not going to try? Seems a bit childish. The fact that you get views should be enough. You may think you're the next Shakepseare, but other people might not.

Also, I found it slightly ironic that in your paragraph about grammar, you wrote: "On one story I written, it's gotten." Written is the wrong word choice, and as far as I believe ''gotten'' isn't a word, rather a colloquialism.

Ah, well see, I'll try that. I just am desperate for comments basically on any story and however long and for whatever reason.
And I totally agree with you, I think we're all greedy for something or someone that/who tells us that something we made is good. It gives you a push to do that thing more, like write. And I don't know, I'm greedy as hell when it comes to acceptance because like I said, writing is one of the only things I am good at.
And on the candy bowl issue; I feel your pain. My sister had me over at her house to help with trick-or-treaters and then let me take home the rest of the bowl. We're talking a big serving dish half-full of candy.
I'm going to be brushing the crap out of my teeth the next few days-- or weeks.

    @ hunter eyes;
I don't mean the feature, I mean a blog where you say,"Okay, you comment on XYZ first, and then I will comment on your story". I've seen it work really well in the past.

But yeah. People are total bastards. The views thing really bugs me sometimes, because how can I have 159 views and only 8 comments you know? Is it so difficult to even say "I really enjoyed this about your story" or whatever. But maybe I'm just greedy tehe I have taken way too much advantage of this Halloween Candy Bowl nonsense.

I've tried comment swap before, and I've given about eight comments so far and have only received a minimal amount back. I will keep writing, but I don't think I'll be posting it on Mibba. I feel discouraged because it's that people notice, yet don't comment. They're silent readers, and it would be nice to have the knowledge that at least someone likes it enough to give me feedback.

Maybe you should do a personal comment swap? You have your genre, story type, etc. listed so people know what they're reading is something they're interested in. People love a little give and take, and at least then you know you're getting honest feedback.

It's just a suggestion though :) Keep writing, even if you aren't getting the comments you think you deserve. Eventually someone will notice.
