Honestly, I see nothing fun in getting drunk, acting like a total idiot, and vomiting all over and having OTHERS clean up the mess. My dad never remembers anything when he blacks out so it's not like you have the memories of "having fun."

I don't think it's unreasonable for you to think that. Drinking can lead to stupidity. I'm not saying your boyfriend or anyone you know who drinks is stupid, I just think drinking in general can be pretty stupid sometimes, and lead people to do stupid things, which is why I want to stay straight edge. I've never had anything to drink, and I never want to.

I felt the same way for the longest time with my boyfriend too - the exact same situation. He's much more of a partier than I am. However, I found that the root of our problems were that I was more jealous of the fun that he was having (which happened to be when he was drinking). Once I started going out more with friends and having more fun I felt better about my boyfriend drinking. This might not be the solution for everyone, but it was the case for me.

I think its best to at least share your feelings with him... let him know that it bothers you, but at the same time make sure he knows that you realize it isn't your place to tell him what to do.

I just find that openly communicating about issues is usually a good way to cope with things within a relationship.

Good luck! I hope for the best for you.

I feel the same exact way. For the longest time, I just had to shut up and let it happen, because I thought it was being unfair. But I finally just explained to my boyfriend that I wasn't really comfortable with him drinking/smoking. He admitted that he wasn't that thrilled about the idea of me doing it either. So we finally compromised and said that he could drink/smoke if I was there to do it with him.

He was so understanding, and it was really great. I say go for it, and tell him how you feel. If he disregards it, then he isn't a very good boyfriend.
