I know exactly what you mean. I'm fully Russian myself and I've got enough racism towards me as a Russian at one point and now I can only expect what will happen after this. The media needs to differentiate between Russian's and Chechnyan people and I'm afraid they will be doing a terrible job at it and the worst is now they will consider immigration embargo's on Russian citizen's which would be terrible.

Racial profiling is the worst and America does a wonderful job at it. I've already read enough things on the news site's with people spewing so much hatred's towards Russian's that it's ridiculous. Just because there are two extremists doesn't allow you to profile a whole group of people as bad and terrible.

This is one of the many things that disgusts me about America. Every time something like this happens or "our national safety is threatened", the government and Americans are so quick to point the finger and accuse every other race and country, like "Oh it had to be the Muslims or the Russians or the Chinese etc." People should realize that it can just as easily be that full-blooded American man who was born and raised here. People are nuts nowadays and they can do anything they please with enough resources no matter where they are from. I suppose America's thinking is just that no one from the 'Land of the Free and Home of the Brave' would ever harm their fellow Americans and their home country. Don't be so full of yourselves, guy.

The suspects are (most likely) Muslim. Russia is a very multicultural country and the area the suspects are from (well, where there parents were from) is Chechnya, where the dominant religion is Islam. Whilst most Chechens are pretty white-passing they generally have darker hair/eyes and sometimes more olive toned skin, which is why they can look Arabic (there might be some history of Arabs settling in the area but I'm not sure). They (and other Muslims) face a lot of prejudice in Russia because of their 'terrorist' activities, it's nothing new here. Most Russians don't even consider them Russians other than in a legal sense, and Chechens haven't wanted to be part of Russia for a long time.

I think you'll be fine. I have friends who are full-blooded (white) Russians who've studied/travelled to the USA and haven't faced any great prejudice, even after other scandals. The worst they experienced was Cold War/Communism jokes and people mimicking their accents. As a white half-Russian (presumably) born and raised in America I don't think you'd get much trouble.

Edit: It seems that they are actually not Russian in any way - not by birth or citizenship (though that information is not 100% yet, but I'd assume they were either citizens of where they were born (Kyrgyzstan) or the USA, where they moved to when they were very young after living in Russia). Maybe there is some cultural connection but other than that I can't find anything.

Racial profiling is so ridiculous. Anyone could be a terrorist, no matter their race or ethnicity. I hate especially hate that it's usually Arabic/Muslims who are thought to be terrorists because I have friends who practice the religion and they are the sweetest people ever! Just because one jerkwad wants to blow crap up doesn't mean that everyone else should be thought of as a terrorist as well! Blergh... this is just me rambling, sorry. It just sucks so much. -.-

This is a perfect blog. Why can't people understand that it can be literally anyone, from any race to do such a horrible crime? When it all comes down to it, we're all humans, so in a way, we're all the same. I try pointing this out to my mom because she thinks Jewish people barely do any harm. I'm Jewish but I had to point out to her the really religious Rabbi's in New York who would rape young boys. I'm making that point because anyone could do this.

Anyone who is sick enough to entertain the thought of terrorism could do this. No matter what their race, color, height, no matter what. It could be anyone.

I absolutely can not begin to agree with this blog more than I already should. I am one hundred percent Muslim and have gone through Hell and back publically, mentally, emotionally etc.

When I went to Bangladesh three summers ago, my whole family had been stopped because my fathers name Salim Khan had been on the black list. Of course, identity mistake, but still.

Why did all the Muslim/Arab families take extra time to get on a fucking airplane? Well, thanks to our brothers who thought it best to fly two planes into the twin towers, one in the pentagon, everyone classifies even the smallest child of Muslim/Arab decent to be terrorist.

I totally understand where you're coming from Eryn. It's bullshit.
