Rape. Opinions? - Comments

  • I also agree that the idea that men being provoked by what women wear is extremely ignorant. I also agree with the fact is rape isn't about sex but more along the lines trying to show the victim that they are weak and can't overpower the person committing this act. If it's a Christian blogger then I can see why she would think the way some women dress would be provocative, because some Christians (not all) think that women are the main source of sin and sexuality because Eve brought all sin and evil into the world when she ate the fruit (kind of like Pandora in Greek mythology). I honestly think that since God gave us our own minds in the beginning to think for ourselves, he knew for a fact that everything wasn't going to be perfect. Adam could of ate the fruit first, same thing. I was at a winter retreat to see Skillet a year ago and they were talking about banning abortion and I was against this for a while, I spoke out about conceiving a child during rape and said that I myself wouldn't want a reminder of what happened to me and wouldn't want my kid to be a bastard child. It's just sickening how they try to make the victims the bad guys.

  • Wow, that's just... WOW.

Honestly, my opinion on the subject is extremely bitter. My sister was raped by someone she knew and trusted. She doesn't dress provocatively at all so the fact that this woman thinks it's all fine and dandy to blame the victim/s due to their choice of dress is disgusting. The society we live in, and the rape culture that comes with it, it all just seems like the person at fault is the victim and all we can sit here and do is shame them into believing that what happened is their own damned fault. People like this blogger, this sad excuse for a human being, they aren't helping.

  • Judging by what you told us about the blogger, I'm taking it that she doesn't understand rape at all. I certainly don't think all men are hungry for women and that women need to watch out for them. Yes, every guy has a moment where they casually check someone out but don't we all, even women? And oh my God, men certainly don't rape women because of the way they dress. I've read so many news stories that can disprove that and I know a person who can also. She was raped and she dresses in the most modest clothing you can think of.

And I must ask this because of curiosity: Did the blogger talk about women who rape men? It might be rare for us to hear these kind of stories, but it does happen.
