  • Agreed--it is literally like Christmas when there is a new comment on your stories. I totally get it, though while I haven't been bashed on yet for my stories, I can still back up that you shouldn't hurt others. If there is something that needs to be fixed, message them--not put it there for the whole world of Mibba (or the site) can see.

Another thing: We are writing for enjoyment,a nd we have these little worlds inside our heads that are filled with creativity. I have created my own worlds of supernatural, though they have not gotten far, and I love them. That's the fun with story telling--you are telling a story. You put your own world in there, one that you think is so awesome that it should be shared with the world. It is like dreaming out loud--but with words, and when someone 'hates' on it, it's as if they are taking away that dream.

So let them dream, let us dream, and if they don't like it or if something is too weird and not explained well--ask them in a MESSAGE.

    With that,

    Well said m'dear! :D

  • If it's a hateful comment that is a flame/bashing and it is not allowed on Mibba, please report it. If it's constructive criticism, consider that they care enough about your story to point out what you should work on. I generally don't bother.

  • YOUR BLOG IS NOTHING BUT TRUE.
it literally IS like Christmas when you find out that your story has a comment, but when it's a rude and uncalled for comment? there really isn't an excuse to be hurtful, especially when someone is taking time out of their own day to write something that means something to them, one way or another.

  • I hope this wasn't on any of your stories O.o Because there's no way they even NEED constructive criticism.

But I agree with this blog, some people just don't get that other people have feelings too.

  • I agree with everything said. Though, I haven't gotten any yet, I still agree. I've always been terrified of letting people read what I write. I'm still like that as I post here on Mibba because I wonder if I'm a good enough writer. I know I'm not like most writers, but I'm a self-educated writer. I have no other way of learning to write due to personal reasons (I won't go on about the reasons why). So, it's hard for me to learn new ways to become a better writer.

Basically, I don't like showing off my writing. I'm very self-conscious and lack the confidence to share my stories. I still do it because my friends prove useless to anything related to writing since they have other things to worry about. It's one of the reasons i came here.

The biggest issue for me is not getting enough recognition for what I write. Sometimes I do, but most of the time I don't. It causes me to lose faith and inspiration to write. D: People actually ignore my writings, rather than stop by to leave a comment and telling me how to improve or say "hey, good job. keep going" or something.

  • Very nice. I agree with all that you said and it's nice to know that other people are aware of this and don't want it to go on either.

  • I completely agree with this. When I first started Mibba, I got some really nasty comments from a user, and it was just a terrible experience. It was to the point that the user wasn't even criticizing the writing anymore, but moreover, harassing me. I took it up with an admin, and I believe something was done with the matter, but my motivation to write was shot after that experience. I even took a hiatus from the site because it was so discouraging.

And, like I've dealt with other writing platforms before (ficwad, fanfic), and Mibba is the only place I have been harassed. However, since that one incident, it hasn't happened again. Mibba in general is a wonderful place to be. I think the people here can be wonderful, and overall it is a great writing site, but some people can be so nasty and rude. Bashing and that sort of behavior shouldn't be tolerated. It's just completely unnecessary.
