Yeah, no kidding. I wrote this not with the intentions of blaming it just on the kids. I am just purely stating that the way the world works these days is horrible and cruel.

This doesn't shock me at all. About 75% of girls have dieted by FIFTH GRADE. (That's about 9/10, for those of unfamiliar with US schooling.) Considering how much the media fat shames women and beats the idea of beauty being the most important thing about them, women are going to project that onto their daughters the fathers will project that onto the way they treat their daughters and girls will pick it up about themselves.

This is about so much more than kids being mean.

Thank you :) I didn't want the attention, I'm not that kinda girl, however I do think everyone needed to hear it! I really do hope things get better for Haley, and she's lucky to have you, so continue on with the lovely thing you're doing!

That comment made my day, love. Thank you for the congrats all that!
When I shared the story with my mom she very bluntly said "that girl could kill herself." and it really shook me up because its true. Girls do all the time for that very reason, and I blame it on the society we live in today. Its awful. She seems very strong though, so I have hope that she will just overcome this:)
Also, that sounds so amazing! Your so smart! Wow that's a great idea. I like how its all anonymous, it makes it even a bit sweeter:)

Ugh, you have NO idea how angry that would make me.

Okay, so I know this is a little off topic, but during the school year a girl committed suicide in our district (I live in a small, very close-knitted town so it was a pretty big deal) and our whole grade was kinda down about it. I noticed this so I hand-cut 500 hearts and wrote on each and every one of them and said, "You Are Loved", went to school at 4:30 am, and hung them on everyone's locker. I continue to remain anonymous. One boy - the boyfriend of the girl who died - told the counseling office the heart saved his life. (The office was the only one who knew I did this) I cried so much after that. Do I think this girl Haley will kill herself? No, but I think she needs to hear that she's loved. Put a heart in her bag when she's not looking, it'll make her day :)

I really do hope things get better for Haley, I pray that they do.

Also, congrats on the job, it sounds like such a lovely experience and it shows how down to earth you are <3

    God Bless!!
