I like a select few rap artists, but I don't think they're actually comparing themselves to God. They're just lyrics, you know? Rap stars don't only do it, I've heard lines like that in all types of music.

Now, if they walk down the street shouting something like "I'm God and you should all worship and pray to me!", that would definitely be taking it too far.

There's just a difference, you know? I know most lyrics are personal to the singers/writers, but not every line is, you know?

I think some rappers go to far with what they say. There is a fine line between controversial and offensive and some overstep the mark. I love rap, mostly the beat and I never listen too closely to the words because sometimes I don't like what I hear. Many are racist, homophobic and comparing yourself to God just isn't right. I am a Christian as well and I don't believe that anyone can compare themselves to God.

I love Kanye West as a rapper, I went to a one day festival and he was the surprise act. I left 10 minutes before he came on stage :-(. However, I don't agree with him comparing himself to God.
