My opinion that I'm sure everyone will disagree with! - Comments

    Yes, that is so true! Some people just take pride in being douche bags. Doesn't matter what sexually origin they are, color, race and whatever....bottom line is that some people are just dicks! Point well made. Wink

  • I agree with the point you're trying to raise here. I was watching a video on feminism the other day (an argument against it), and one thing that really stuck out was when the girl said something along the lines about how people who say these hurtful things to others just do it out of the fact that they're douchebags. It's really the same thing with people who call gay people fags or refer to black people as the N word (I should add that these particular people would know that their words are hurtful).
    What I'm getting at is that it's not sexism, homophobia, or racism alone that's the root of the problem; it's people who have a malice intention to make someone feel like shit by referring to them as a degrading term (so douchebaggery basically).

  • @ Madam Shadows;
    Well thank you. I'm glad that people are agreeing with this. I thought for sure that I was gonna piss someone off but I really do try and be level headed these days!

  • I saw an article in a newspaper that said men don't prefer women who wear little clothing, one man said: they don't look like the sort of women who want a serious relationship.

  • I was really impressed with this blog post. Everything you stated is how I feel. There will always be someone who doesn't like what you're doing or wearing. When people say stuff to me about what I wear or things I do, I just say i don't care and move on. Never in my whole life have I let anyone's opinions or words get to me. It would just be too rough. But Bravo on this post!

    Yeah, most definitely. Obviously that little girl had to have heard someone in her family calling someone that ya know? Also, if some people know they get offended by girls wearing not a lot of clothing then why do they purposely go places where they KNOW girls won't be fully dressed? That would be like someone going to the sport's bar and then leaving and bitching cause of the girl's outfits lol. They know dang well what girls wear in there before they go in!

  • I totally agree with all this! I wouldn't let those who disagree with your opinion bother you! You're entitled to your opinion ♥
    August 13th, 2013 at 09:03pm
  • Exactly! I didn't want to tell this little girl I never met my grandfather because he died at 40 or I've been hospitalized 25 times in the last two years, because I shouldn't have to! And I totally know what you mean with the Sports Bar stuff - they're not hurting you by wearing what they have to. It's ridiculous how slut shaming seems to be more important than staying in school, supporting your family, reading good books, the list goes on and on! I think there are very few cases in which a girl was rightfully called a slut. Especially for my age group, like c'mon, how many 14 year old girls do you know are sleeping around with a married guy. Oh that's right, none. Hahah, I didn't even know what slut meant when I was eight or nine!

    Oh you are quite alright! I honestly enjoy reading lengthy things. A lot of people just leave one word responses which kind of leaves me wanting more interaction, ya know?

    Yeah there are some instances where less attire is required. Here in my town, we have this sport's bar. The girls are required to wear really low cut shirts and really short shorts with like...those tall tube socks. Now...you never know which girl who may be a single mom because her child's father bailed and she's stuck trying to provide for her child on her own. The economy is bad and that may have been the only job she could get. So for someone to outright call her a slut because that's what she's been told to wear is just down right wrong.

    We never know the reasoning behind people's actions or clothes so other people need to be more respectful I agree!

  • I completely agree with everything you're saying. Sure, I think some girls might be sluts, but I don't know their story or whatever, so I keep it to myself. Everyone's different, and that doesn't give someone the right to ridicule others bases on something as petty as what they look like.

    I'm a runner. Besides writing and alto saxophone, it's my escape. I was running through the downtown area of where I live and there was this little girl (MAYBE nine, eight years old). My grandpa died when he was only forty while he was running because of a heart attack, and my dad has asthma, so running is a bit of a risk for me. In order to not over heat in the summer, I wear shorts (lol obviously) and I wear a sports bra as well as a muscle shirt (you know, with the sides cut out). Well anyways that's what I was wearing and this little girl points to me and calls me a slut. A slut! For wearing this while I was running. I pretended I didn't hear her but boy was I hurt. At school, my nick name is "Ms. Modesty" and "Goody Goody". They're not nice names, but I don't mind them. The fact I was called a slut really just got me down. I'm not afraid to admit I am concerned about people seeing my body and I'm 100% okay with being classy, but the point of my story was just to show you don't know someone's real intentions based on what they are wearing. I wasn't running in my bikini, for goodness sake.

    Lol sorry for the super long story, but I had to vent to someone because I've just been keeping it all up inside me.

    God Bless!!

    xoxo
