A+ on this post. It really makes me ashamed to be apart of this fanbase with people being so mean/rude to Arin. Yes, he will never be Jimmy. But that doesn't mean we can't love him and appreciate what he does for the band. Though it's been 4 years, I do still miss Jimmy since I was lucky enough to meet him about a year before his death. But that doesn't mean I can't like Arin too. I just...I don't understand how people who are so mean can call themselves fans of this band, you know?

Anyway, this was a beautiful and very truthful post. I 100% agree with you.

I loved this post. I love Arin so much! I saw him at a concert and he is amazing! Now I'm not crazy about Matt's long hair. But I'm used to it now. They do look happier and that is all that matters! I told someone on here how I'm working on knitting a scarf for all the guys including Arin because he's fuckin awesome! And I just streamed the new album on iTunes for free and it was awesome! I'm 100% in love with it!

Amazing post! I am behind you 100% because it pisses me off that fans act that way. Yes, I must say that I had a hard time adjusting to Matt's new hair style. It's different and most definitely not what I'm used to seeing, but I believe that it suits him now. Besides, I finally realized that it was his voice that pulled me in and not his appearance. Is he one hot mother fucker? fuck yeah he is, but his voice is pure heaven and that's what counts.

Arin is fucking amazing. I love that guy so much. He's just as good as Jimmy and the guys even said that if they made this new album with Jimmy he would have agreed with the simplicity decision of the whole thing.

I agree that bashing Arin is essentially useless. I believe deep down that Jimmy is proud of the guys for continuing on with the music business and I also believe that he is definitely proud of Arin for stepping up to the plate and helping create the amazing music.

Change happens and without change music becomes stale and boring. The guys want to always make an impression with their music and in order to get there change is definitely needed. Well said and rock on!

i'm always so happy to see posts like yours because i'm getting really tired of reading shit "fans" have been spewing out lately!! what the hell does it matter if Matt's hair is long or shot or mohawked or shaved off?!! Why is it about appearances?!!!! seriously, if Matt blows out his vocals (god forbids something as heinous as that ever happens) then that man would just be a pretty face. It's his voice that got me when i first started listening to Avenged back in the day!! I've been a fan since 2005 or somewhere around there and i think the fact that they're all good looking was secondary!! i was too focused on the music!!
Then onto Arin....i can't stress this enough.....the boy aint trying to replace no one! He is part of the band because the band was essentially incomplete after Jimmy died! I think Jimmy would be proud of Arin, of the guys for carrying on and finding someone so incredibly talented! Seriously, there is gonna be that one song on the album that is gonna make the fucking haters eat their mother fucking hearts out and cry! *inhales and calms down*
BAshing Arin is totally ridiculous. How can you still have the nerve to call yourself a "fan" after ddoing something like that?! Shouldn't we embrace the change? It's a part of life! Did people rexpect the guys to sit at home after Jimmy died and not produce anything or fnd someone to join the band?!!!

I can't even like... Just yes. Yes to this whole thing. Like, I'll admit, when I first saw things about Arin playing with the band and everyone talking about how they were going to make it official, I was a little iffy on it because his style seemed off and to be honest, he's not Jimmy. But I realized I was being selfish, gave him a chance and while its weird to hear a song that Jimmy isn't playing, and it's painfully obvious it's not him, it's not bad, and I absolutely love what Arin is doing and I'm grateful to him for stepping up and helping the boys' dream live on. It's what Jimmy would have wanted and its what the guys deserve.

And as for Matt's hair, lol I was totally shocked when I first saw it, but he's still M. Shadows, doesn't change who he is. I think he looks pretty good. Same with Syn but I could just be biased with that one because I read his parents bragging about him on Facebook all the time lol and he's always been my favorite.

Can I just say that I agree with everything you've said? I'm so sick of hearing people complain about their looks. Like how can anyone consider themselves fans if that's all they are focused on rather than their music? Yes I know Matt has long hair now and Syn did something different with his hair, but it's not like it effects Matt's singing or Syn's guitar playing skills. Then with everyone complaining about Arin that makes me mad too. It's like a lot of these 'fans' aren't even grateful that they continued and were able to move on without Jimmy. I for one am really happy they've managed to continue. While yes, it may not be exactly the same, Arin is a damn good drummer too. I saw A7X when Arin started drumming with them and I was there when they announced he was an official band member. Everytime I've seen them since Jimmy passed, Arin has done an amazing job and I'm sure he'll continue to do a good job. I know it's not the same as having Jimmy there, but I bet anything that Jimmy is proud of him and the rest of the band.

I've been a fan for like.. ever.. almost. ^^ Like 2001? I was a baby back then lol Either way their appearance doesn't bother me much, I love arin, and he makes a good addiction to the family - I'm just not digging the sound, not to say it's bad it's just not making me into it is all.

I'll always adore and love them, even if their style changes but I may not like this one song... sometimes that happens. Xd

OMG! Yes, just.. YES! I couldn't have said it any better! It seriously makes me so mad that people won't even give Arin a chance before they just dismiss him. In my opinion, he's a fantastic drummer. All of Avenged said so themselves. Do you honestly think the guys would let him join the band if he wasn't? As for the hair thing, it's just straight ridiculous. It's their hair, they should be able to style and wear it however the hell they want. It's not like they comment on your pictures after you get a haircut and are like, "Oh, your hair is stupid. Change it." Like, no. Just stop. Looks shouldn't matter. I support what Matt said a thousand percent. Not only his personal life, but all of their lives. It's not any of our business. If they wanted us to know stuff about them, they'd tell us. It's a private matter for a reason. Avenged Sevenfold fans have just disappointed me a lot lately. We're supposed to be a "family", but we don't act like it.

There are always going to be eccentric fans who make the true fans look bad. Makes me annoyed at times. If people don't like how things are going with the band....they should either keep it to themselves or state their opinion in a way that isn't hateful and down right rude. I agree with your blog. I think people today should stop dwelling so much on things that have nothing to do with the music such as Matt's hair and the changes the guys make in their looks. Their hair don't sing lyrics or play the guitar chords, ya know?

The whole Arin bashing thing is just ridiculous. He's real strong though to keep going even through expectations of him filling Jimmy's shoes and all the crap people try and say about him. I'm glad they have Arin. He's awesome!
