I only got mine because my sister worked at the place before I did. HOWEVER, don't just put your application in and call it done -- make sure to go into the places and say that you've applied! Even though my sister worked there, I wouldn't of gotten the interview if I didn't go in and say "yo I applied."
If you can try and go in when you know places are specifically hiring, sometimes if they aren't and not planning on it for awhile the boss just throws it away. I've see it happen it's sad. Also if your town has a factory try there. Yes factory work sucks but it's good money and steady hours.

Honestly, I said I was available to work anytime and that I planned on sticking around for a while. :\ Then I gave it a couple months before I started changing my schedule. Finding a job is always hard, especially when you've never had one before.
