I like them because you can read without an account. Some of my friends don't want to join Mibba just to read because we're used to sites where you don't have to join. The mini-sites can have unregistered users read too. And they don't have to join Mibba to do it, which I think is convenient because some people aren't into social networking, they just like to creep.

I tend to use Fanfiction.Net or AO3 to post most of my fanfics nowadays but I do think that a lot of people feel too comfortable here to put their fanfics on the mini sites.

I feel like you've gotten answers to your questions, but I'll just address a few things that haven't been answered yet.

The first is that I don't think there is an article about the mini sites, but you can read Dujo's thoughts at the beginning of the mini sites thread (if you haven't already).

The other thing I wanted to mention is to do with searching. When a person new to the writing scene is looking for stories, they'll Google something like "Avenged Sevenfold fan fiction", and this will take them directly to the A7X mini site and hence lead them to Mibba. A new writer/reader probably isn't going to search "Mibba".

The only point of the mini sites is to bring in new users to Mibba, because Mibba is much better than the mini sites XD

It wasn't recent, but I also do get upset reading my mistakes, that's why although I don't read much, I read a lot of my works over and over again and when I find things I'm like Grr

Yeah, that's what some people do to waste half of the wordcount.

    @ XXXataktoulaXXX
    Mhm.

    @ Audrey T
I didn't understand that until earlier today. Do you know if the article is still up, that one of the other users spoke of?

    @ Much Ado About Me
    Ohh, that's cool.
Where do you post, if you don't mind me askin.

    @ sindie synclayre
Yeah, I'd be lazy too. It would be some work.

    @ witch
    XD Thank you.

Because a lot of people on Mibba enjoy fan fiction.
Because the "mini-sites" don't have as many users as Mibba, thus, there are less opportunities for feedback.
Because there's no rule stating where people have to upload their stories.
Because fan-fictions, regardless of whom they are about, can be extremely beautiful and well written.
Because everyone deserves an opportunity to enjoy the somewhat supportive community atmosphere Mibba exudes.
    I could go on!

I like to write a little bit of both fanfiction and original fiction; honestly, I'm far too lazy to post my work on different sites. I like to have everything I write all together in one place. It's easier and more convenient for me and for my readers as well. I will every now and then venture to those mini-sites but always to read, never to post. Mr. Green

Yeah, I post my fanfictions somewhere else, seeing as that other site has different ones like books, movies, and even games.

The minisite on the My Mibba page aren't there to encourage users to remove their fanfiction from Mibba, they're there to draw more writers to Mibba by reaching out to fandom writers.

And a lot of people cross-post their work - so it's on both Mibba and on the individual fandom site.

I think I know the one you're talking about, if it was recent. I personally saw nothing wrong with the comment because it wasn't rude. If they'd wanted to be rude, there was plenty of room for it. I think they only ended up commenting in the story again after having not liked being called out in the blogs for something not intended to cause offence that could have been settled in a PM. But I find it weird when people don't like their grammar corrected so, maybe it was harsh. I don't know haha. I get disappointed when I find mistakes in my work that no one told me about -_-

I don't mind the layout thing unless it's in a comment swap taking up precious words and opinions haha. It was a huge sore point for many with the official comment swap feature. I get that. It was irritating.

Yeah. I tend to stay away from the original fiction/fanfiction thread in the forums just because I know it's just arguments about personal opinions.

XD It was almost luck that I found it. The person that had gave the bad comment was confronted and me being nosy as I am looked for it and it was pretty bad. They went on to argue in the girl's comments. It wasn't reported but it's long forgotten to them.
Lol. I stopped writing comments like those just because I didn't want to have to deal with someone that is either ungrateful or end up hurting their feelings. I don't even read much unless it's my friends' work and they never mind.

Yeah lol, and people almost always put something in their comments about the layout and that's the majority of the word count so, there's that. Another semi-useless comment unless it actually helps the author fix something about the layout.

I guess it depends on the fans. I know that when I read fanfiction in fandoms I like and the author puts in little details the reader would only understand if they read or saw this part in the show or something, I fangirl a bit.

Yeah, I got a lot of answers. xD

    @ XXXataktoulaXXX
Yep, it is your choice. Just gotta take the time and fill out the search for what you want.
it stinks when you don't get many results though.

I am against mini sites though because I believe that those of us who like original fiction can search for originals or fanfiction here. I mean no one puts a knife on your neck to read either fictions, its your choice.

Lol it's just that there's always this thing of if someone only posts original fiction that follows that they must hate fan fiction and vise versa. It's not true but there are so many instances where people from both sides get together and discuss why one is better and why one is not so great. There are great arguments for both sides but in the end, it'll come down to what you personally enjoy.

I don't think I've ever seen a really, truly horrible comment on a story on Mibba. Which is... probably odd. I know they're out there but they can also be reported. I don't think the mini sites have that option. Mibba is really padded, all in all. I used to write on a Green Day site called SullenRiot and the admin would get sarcastic and snarky if you so much as posted a certain pairing in your story or spelt a few words wrong. And it wasn't just "this is a little bit wrong you should correct it" it was like... it was harsh criticism. And people would receive that every chapter from the same person. A lot of people can't take that sort of thing and I respect that. But I mean, every time I see someone complain on Mibba that someone wrote a mean comment on their story, I check it out. 9/10 times it's because they don't see someone pointing out their faults as con crit and take it as "look at how shit you are" which isn't what the person ever intended to say.

The mini sites would be a great place to do comment swaps, I think, because yeah... no layouts. When people are asking for comment swaps it usually isn't because they're worried about their layout.

I get you on that point. Like, the fans would be more "hardcore" or something and understand the little things better. I notice that when I write things for Placebo on here, a lot of what I write into it is missed. When I write it on the band's forum, these things are picked up. And that's sorta special and hard to find.

Haha at least you got an answer?

OMG NO! Boo, red font, bad. Facepalm I think all is well.

    @ castiel's vessel
Yeah I get that. I'm unsure how though, other people find the mini-sites and get redirected to Mibba. I don't understand that aspect of it.

    @ lady_enigma
Understandable. I realize now that if you don't write just a certain kind of fanfiction, it would be annoying to post on various sites for your fandom.

    To your 2nd, 3rd paragraphs.
I think I understand what you mean now, a lot better than I had. I feel as though Mibba is like this a lot. People will post blogs about something and because they are assumed to think a certain way, strong responses favoring the opposite side of the argument will arise and problems will start.
I in no way meant to say anything like a certain group of people should go about their writing on a different site, if anything and it came off like that, it was only a suggestion but I also understand why people would rather not. I think I said this before but I wouldn't like that either, not if this was more an original fiction site and the fanfiction writers told me to scoot or otherwise, the fact is that when I went to the mini-sites there wasn't hardly anything like Mibba's layouts and things like so, so it was less appealing, so I understand.

    To your fourth paragraph.
I've seen it where people do end up giving some others bad comments, or mean comments and although I'm not sure it was reported, it does happen on occasion. (Which stinks because there's no way to delete the comments).

    5th
I agree that the mini-sites probably wouldn't be a way to get too much more comments. But you might get a better quality from the comment, maybe because of the lack of layouts to comment on. I'm not sure but I just figured that if you move onto the mini-sites where more people would enjoy your writing because they can relate and have no way to not understand it, they'll be more inclined to comment.

I don't know, I think I tried to get the point across that you had got the wrong impression but I'm honestly not good at wording things and so it probably just made it all worse. What's done is done though, the majority of these comments were from misunderstanding but they did answer the question.

To be honest, I've posted one story on the MCR mini-site but probably won't post another. The mini-sites aren't monitored and don't have the features that Mibba does which is why a lot of people might use then as another place to post their fanfiction but not stay on it like they would Mibba.

Plus there's bigger reading audiences on Mibba than the mini-sites so they really have no pluses for me other than they bring new users to Mibba. You have original fiction writers reading fanfiction on here and vice versa so Mibba will always be better than the mini-sites in my opinion.
