Hey Wait... Have You Ever Thought of This? - Comments

    Exactly. And then when there is awareness for it, it's after the person of said disease/cancer has already lost the battle. My mom once told me that she wished she would have been diagnosed with breast cancer because there's more treatments for it and there's a higher cure/remission rate, and the only reason why is because of funding and widespread awareness. I feel like if we had more awareness out there for other cancers like testicular cancer and melanoma, or even more awareness for diseases like Alzheimer's and such, there wouldn't be as many cancer patients/deaths from these diseases.

    Yeah that's what I was thinking. It might be because it's less common/funded but then again, it is pretty common, actually.

    Right? I feel like the lack of awareness about many other illnesses and diseases is just like them shrugging at the possibility that maybe these other things are just as bad as cancer and such.

  • @ vulcan;
    The fact that the commercials are about people who have lost family members to it really upsets me. I only see awareness on it on my Facebook, and that's because I liked the Moffitt Cancer Center's FB page.

    I've seen a couple commercials about melenoma, but not much. Mainly they were just people talking about their sisters or mothers they'd lost to it.

  • I've only seen things for breast cancer/leukemia/lung cancer, too, and I have also wondered, "What about the other cancers?"

    Since my mom was diagnosed/passed away of cancer (melanoma, which is a very aggressive type of skin cancer), I've been thinking, "Where are the commercials about melanoma?"

    Melanoma is becoming a HUGE problem, especially here in Florida because no one knows how to wear sunscreen and stop going to tanning beds. It upsets me because, as my mom's doctor at Moffitt Cancer Center has said, melanoma is quickly becoming an epidemic. There's not enough awareness out there for melanoma or any of these other cancers, and there needs to be because it would save so many lives.

  • I've seen them. Lol I don't remember where,but I know I've seen one. It might have to do with funding or how common they are. I don't know. Don't mind me.
