I'm just going over emos and preppies. This is stuff at my school, and there aren't many kids. Like I mean literally there are about 60 kids in the whole school. Only 15 high schoolers in my class. Small town too. Most of the kids are elementary and a bit of middle school. I am emo. Not in style wise. But lately between kids these days emo means towards style. Well, when I hear it anyway.
I am emo and I do cut. I know it's wrong, but I'm one too see red when I'm upset. So I see your point as well :)
    Welcome to the debate ^~^

The Betweens? Seriously? No. If you want to identify one clique, identify them all. Nerds, scene kids, stoners, jocks, rebels, rich kids... There's about seventy worthless cliques all together. We're all really the same. Emo is actually a really offensive term applied to wannabe goth kids who cut. Emo is supposed to be black rimmed glasses and sweater vests. Hawuhorne Heights. Goth is obvious. Then some people blended the styles and tried to call it a new thing. It's not. And most emo kids are not melancholy at all. Horrid assumption. Emo means you're emotional enough to hurt yourself. It.

Agreed. I don't agree with labels...I sorta just wanted to start a debate ^^" I like to debate and hear people's opinions on things.
You are right about a appearance. I understand that. You are right, trust me. I'm a Between. I play sports and act happy, but I wear black and listen to heavy metal.
Thanks for your comment :D welcome to the debate

To an extent clothes say something about you. The girl is the short dress and heels probably isn't self conscious. The boy in the band tee probably enjoys going to heavy concerts. No one will deny clothes don't say something about you, because they do. But as for the thick line separation of people by the way they dress? You can't separate any amount of people into a few groups and accurately label them. People are all very different. The older you get, the more you see this.

But just as everyone else has said, the real world doesn't really divide people like that anyway.

I agree. And as I just told Tholomew, it's not really labels. This debate is mostly about how people stereotype about them. I thought the "emo vs preppy" thing died too...until I transferred to a new school D:
Yes, I am still in high school ^^" you are not wrong

Lol I do wear all black and you're right :) it is slimming. Now I don't like to group people either, it's just something my friend and I got in an argument about. Sooo...I had to call them something ^^" ya know, other than "those types of people" what's sad is that...I'm the only black dressing person in my school.(small school) when I dye my hair crazy colors everyone knows about it and it DRIVES ME NUTS that I'm the only gay emo guy and everyone has to point it out. But enough about my problems. This is a debate :)

Eh? This is still a thing? I don't mean that offensively. ^^' It's just, I thought this whole "emo vs preppy" thing died out when I was in high school and that was a while ago. oxo god I sound old.

I don't see why we need labels for each other. Why do we need to identify as "emo"? Why do we need to identify as "preppy"? Why can't we just identify as people? These labels are useless and honestly, once you're out of high school then these labels won't matter a bit. Things like "emo" and "preppy" mean nothing in the real world, colleges and jobs won't care. This is assuming you're still in high school based on your age, my apologies if I'm wrong. ^^"

I just don't see the point to all of these labels.

I don't look at people as groupings, more like 'just people'. Although they themselves still brand me with their idiotic suggestions of what I am. I am not a goth people, Black is actually just more slimming. -.- haha. It is seriously, go dress in all black and you will see!

Now I agree about everything you just said. Now I call the people who self harm a Harmy. I am an ex Harmy and I didn't go emo til afterward. Wearing black does not mean you're depressed

Don't conform to the boundaries or cliques of society! Be a emprep or a prepmo, be whoever you want to be! Don't let a name, or stereotype confine you, be who you are.
    (Inspirational speech mode lmfao )

And what does society define as normal? The idea of being normal is pre-decided as it is an idea that we should conform to in order to be accepted. Being normal is boring, be different!

This isn't my opinion, but whenever I say emo, everyone I know automatically jumps to the conclusion of self harm, depressed and on the brink of suicide. I would just like to know your opinion if you think "people who like to wear black are automatically self harming" is a conclusion most people jump to with the word emo? Just a thought, it's not my personal opinion. Mr. Green
