Why Are People Hating on Jared Padalecki? - Comments

  • @ sobre mi cadaver
I never said they weren't. I said I didn't understand why they were making a big deal out of Jared's comment. I never said people couldn't express their opinions in the same way I just expressed mine. That would be silly.

    @ iggy.
    I agree completely.

I totally agree. In my opinion, Jared is still a better role model than Justin will ever be. At least he doesn't go around doing coke, smoking weed, getting into fights, sagging his pants, and just being an asshole.

I understand that is your opinion and I respect that; also, to those who are calling him (Jared) and the rest of the celebrities who did crappy sexist jokes are also entitled to their own opinions and point of view on things and express them.

It's ridiculous how they're talking about boycotting the show. I don't see anyone boycotting Justin's career in general for the stuff he's done and said. >_< So silly.

    @ paper sirens.
    Exactly.

Except I don't see it as problematic. That's my opinion. I'm not mindlessly consuming media, or letting it influence my views. I just don't see it as a big deal; I see it as a joke that was made and, like paper sirens. said, a joke that has been made since the beginning of Justin's career. I'm not saying that it's right, especially when people are being serious and insulting Justin because of his feminine features. I'm saying I know Jared was joking, so I don't see it as a problem.

  • Except jokes like that are part of a misogynistic culture that shames women for simply being women and men who are/look/display traditionally "feminine" roles/looks/etc. thus reinforcing that being a woman is the worse thing you can be as a man?

All of those tweets were awful, to be honest, and all of them deserve the calling out that's going on right now (not from the believers; those kids are vicious and horribly misinformed). Idk why it's happening specifically to Jared; though I did see a lot of criticism going around for Ru Paul (and not only for that comment in particular; he has said other problematic [aka sexist and transphobic] shit in the past).

That said, it is perfectly okay for you to still like him (I still love Orange is the New Black). You can like things that are considered problematic, but be also aware of the problematic nature of them and be critical, otherwise you are mindlessly consuming media and letting it influence your views about cewrtain topics.

  • I think it's ridiculous how upset everyone's getting. People have been making jokes about Justin Bieber being a girl since the beginning of his career. Why is everyone in an uproar over it now? Why weren't they upset before? I found Jared's joke completely harmless and outright hilarious.

Another thought I had is, they're going to stop watching the show because he insulted feminity? Do they not recognize that Dean often shows a lack of respect and even seems to objectify women? While I don't really care and still enjoy the show, I think that if they're going to be upset about someone insulting feminity, they probably should have stopped watching the show a long time ago.

  • Jared also posted a tweet to Justin that said something along the lines of: "How much did you pay your friend to take the blame for your coke?". But it's so stupid that people are taking Jared so seriously. He's just joking around. People went as far to say that they're only going to watch the show for Dean now or that they're not going to watch the show at all or that or that they don't look up to Jared now.

They are taking this way too seriously. So what if Jared posted one or two tweets that they don't agree with? People have different opinions. Jared obviously has a different opinion about Justin Bieber. He doesn't deserve all this hate that he is getting. He's just poking a bit of fun. I have no clue if that is how the saying goes.
