I really am Quite Proud of Disney for Featuring a Same-sex Couple on Their Show & Being so Respectful to it - Comments

  • Anyone who claims that homosexual couples are not child friendly for television are hypocrites. If they think kids aren't ready to deal with sexuality, then why feature heterosexual couples on kids shows? Hell, families and couples may as well not be featured all together. I mean, we can't be tampering with dem kid's sexual identities now, can we? Rolling Eyes But of course no one has a problem with heterosexual parents because it doesn't threaten any of their values or doesn't require any explaining on the parents part.
I think this is one of the best things to happen to kids television these days. Children need decent media portrayals of homosexuality, because the older generation (at least this present older generation) can't sweep it under the rug forever. And plus, this is great for kids who do have LGBTQ parents and the parents themselves. I bet those angry soccer moms who oh so worried about their own families never think of them. The bottom line is that young kids aren't going to be worried about their sexuality because of a television show (provided that the execution was done with tact), they just care that person a loves person b. The only reason it's a big deal is because people are making it to be one. I'm proud of Disney too for taking a stand.
Now hopefully I can take my wife and kids to the theatre to see the first Disney animated film to feature a lesbian princess someday. Or grandkids, if I'm being too optimistic.

  • Ah!! I literally just watched this episode ten minutes ago.

I like this movie critic who is usually VERY harsh; sometimes over the line. He said something like how Good Luck Charlie was the only show on Disney Channel that's actually of quality and not superficial.

I loved this episode, it was so quirky and respectful and I appreciated it SO much. They didn't totally ignore the fact they were a same-sex couple, but they didn't discriminate them either. It was beautiful. Hell, I'm going to re-watch it right now :) thank you for this blog ^_^

    God Bless!!
