That is so frustrating when it happens! And it's never when you've backed up... it's ALWAYS when it's the only copy. And sometimes after you've lost work, it's so hard to find the motivation to re-write it, because it's hard to get over the fact you've already written that part. I think all computers temperamental little buggers!

I know how ya feel! I've had this happen to me like five times. & I had to rewrite but I feel like it's never as good as the original copy that I lost. It really sucks! I could throw my computer out a window when that sh*t happens!
