@ tigermilk Sorry I'm a twat & somehow didn't see this comment? I feel it's best to just expect anything from our weather right? I mean, my area had an earth tremor a few years ago and I slept right through it bahah. And I love how you just dropped some Roman history notes on me ;)
also the weather thing: we have no climate and it's hard to explain that to curious foreigners?? just rain. always rain.
“The sky is overcast with continual rain and cloud” — Britain according to Tacitus, a Roman historian, in his book Agricola circa 98 CE. In other words, that island has been gloomy for as long as we have writing with which to call it gloomy.
@ kahlo Yay! let me know if you do, I like reading them :)
@ house of cards. EXCELLENT! I'll check it out now.
@ Indigo Umbrella I'm loving the fact this is catching on haha.
@ The Doctor Well sorry for the offense. I'm not a Who fan and that reference was purely about Peter Capaldi and other things I can't rightly be bothered to go into haha. This was purely a joke blog. I never expected so many people to read it.
@ castiel's vessel That's like mines but we don't have a good rugby team either. I realised how much swearing Scottish people do when I was writing it. I wrote it out, realised the language was atrocious and decided to tone it down a bit but I still swear a lot.
Almost all of these apply to where I'm from, other than the 'royal family' and tea. I'd consider many of these things to be of human nature, in the Westernized sense. I would have thought you'd have mentioned how it's "Doctor Who" and not "Dr Who," actually, as many friends of mine, as well as myself, have complained about Americans (as well as people from other nationalities) butchering the name and shortening to unmatched glory. Either way, a fun read. I think that if more people post blogs about their homes, you'll come to find most of these things make us similar and not different.
I'm laughing so hard right now at the fact people have read this pile of bollocks. I might do a part two.
@ silk tea. haha!
@ ladyschrei Thank you! You should do one for your state! They're are so many british stereotypes and people addressing them that this was easy.
@ The Warden's Wife We're really not. We're quite awful.
@ crooked Bahaha well this is just a round up. If you need any help with anything let me know :)
@ soft skeletons. I love when people's accent mould with another. My grandad only get's real Irish when he's angry and you have to really listen to know what he's saying. The currency is incredibly simple. On the downside you will always have loads of coins.
@ semisweet. Perhaps you were! Come on over.
@ TheyCallMeRae Do it! And let me know if possible because I'd love to read it :)
Oh this makes me love England even more! And this is just what I need for my new story. I've been spending my time around the internet to search for British customs, and it turns out I didn't need to look far.
I've always loved England and it's counties (those Welsh, though!) but I would love to learn more about it! Hopefully when I'm older I'll have a friend move with me to the UK. Maybe my American accent will turn British... Lord knows that wouldn't be a downside. But then again, having to learn the currency would be really difficult.
