Can You Be 20 Years Old and Have a Midlife Crisis? - Comments

  • I am twenty, and I haven't gone to college, I have a well paying job, an awesome job, and I am satisfied. Society places so much drama on kids heads these days. As soon as a senior is ready to graduate, they put so much PRESSURE on them to graduate....I would say that if college is causing you so much hardship, maybe you need a break, hang out with some friends, just be the uncomplicated, not stressed you for a while. And figure out what it is that YOU want. Kudos to your parents for helping you along, but YOU will have to do all the work, and live with what you decide to do. It's your choice.

  • Perhaps you could consider taking a gap year to get everything sorted? In the long term, it will be worth finishing college, but don't put yourself in a deep hole because of it.

  • Have you talked to someone at the Health Center at your school?

I had a mental break in school. I stopped going to class and ended up abusing prescription pills and dropping out of college when I was hospitalized. My biggest regret in life is not finishing school.

However, I don't think one needs a college degree to be successful. Trade school, tech schools, vocational schools, apprenticeships, etc might all be better. A smaller campus might be better.

You say you've been in school three years? How much longer do you have to get your Bachelor's? (I'm assuming that's what you're going for.)
