    1. If you have discontinued stories, why are they incomplete? Did you lose inspiration and get bored of it or if it's fanfiction did you just lose interest in the fandom?
I just lost my interest I guess. I was going through this really big "vampire and human slave" faze and decided to write my own story. It was going great for the longest time(I got to at least chapter 10) and then fell out of love with it. There were a lot of holes and things that didn't make sense. I'm not sure if I'll still work on it, but I might if my readers stay interested. (The story is called Forbidden Sunset if you're wondering)

    2. Are the majority of your unfinished stories fanfiction or original fiction?
Original fiction. I don't really write chaptered fan fiction.

    3. Do you still read stories if you know they're unfinished and won't be updated?
Yes, why not. I always leave a comment and sometimes they message me telling me they'll update. And most of the time they do.

I delete them, but I keep them backed up, so that if I do decide to go back to them, I still have them... plus by deleting them it gives you a reason to redraft everything aswell

    1. For me the only reason I don't finish a story is if I get stuck, sometimes I'll have two or three possible endings and I just can't seem to decide on one (which sounds stupid I know like just pick one)

    2. Both actually

    3. I'm the same as you, if it hasn't been updated in six months then I tend to forget about them and concentrate on the ones that are updated regularly, even if that may be once a month

I don't really do anything with unfinished stories. I don't delete them, because I find it kind of painful. Plus, I have a habit of returning to stories after 6 months of not updating, when I'd previously thought I'd never ever finish it.

    1. For me, I usually leave stories incomplete because I get sidetracked by other ones. Seriously, I have so many different ideas flying around in my head that I can't concentrate on one story probably unless I get this new idea out. Then, I'll end up forgetting about the other one because I'm writing this NEW story too much. And because I don;t have a lot of spare time, I end up with quite a few unfinished things, and that really bugs me.

    2. I'd say an equal number for both. I'm more of an original fiction writer though, so my actual statistics on that would be biased.

    3. Yeah. If the story is good, I'll read it, even if it doesn't have an ending. Recently, I've decided to continue with a story that I had left alone for about half a year, purely because someone new read it, said they loved it and asked for me to update it. That gave me the push to actually do it! Cute

I'm so guilty of starting stories and never finishing them. Some of them are still posted but usually I delete them but I keep the word documents on my computer for future reference because I want to re-write a lot of them and post them back on Mibba.

    1. I lose inspiration or just have no motivation. A lot of the time I screw up the story because I don't know where I'm going with it.

    2. I think they're all original fiction.

    3. Most of the time, no.

-What do you do with unfinished stories?
    I keep them.

    1. I just started new stories and left them behind but I know that I will complete all of them for sure. I trust myself on that.
    2. I mostly write original fiction, so originals.
    3. Yes, cause they might be gems and sometimes the author needs a little push and by dropping to leave a helpful comment, some of them get back to their stories and update. I've seen it happen. When youd on't forget about the stories you like, you motivate the author to write.

I have deleted a lot of my unfinished ones from here, but I keep them on my computer.

    1. They are incomplete usually for the same reason as another of mine, I tend to stop working on then because something else in life comes up and I can never get back into that frame of mind for it again. I wouldn't say I lost inspiration or interest in the fandom more than life just sort of takes precedence for me. On the flipside, I will usually revisit the piece a year or more later and rework/rewrite the idea as I tend to love my plots.

    2. I would say fanfiction though I've done some original here and there. I use writing as an outlet more than actually just because, an idea comes to me and I just start writing. If I don't conceive enough original characters, I will usually plug it into something I like.

    3. I have and will do as long as there's more than one chapter. Admittedly myself I have a one chapter thing I haven't updated at all but I love my plot and may revisit it one day.

I've never deleted any of my stories, just leave them there. Sometimes people comment on them, but rarely.

    1. Lost inspiration for writing as well as the story. Also became less obsessed with the fandom.
    2. Both, except I believe it's mostly fanfic
    3. I have. Recently I did and left a comment asking if they planned on updating again and they did :) It really depends how long it's been since it was updated. If it's way over a year, then I probably won't read it.

I have deleted stories only to post them again, which is counterproductive, so now I just leave the unfinished ones (which are nearly all of them at this point, save for my one shots) with an "on hiatus" status. I've only completed two of my chapter stories so far, but I'm a bit wary about deleting things because if the plot is one I still love or one that can be reworked there's a good chance I'll come back to it eventually.

    Okay, to answer your questions.
    1. I lost interest in some and others are because of writers block, and or plans to rewrite.
    2. It's a mix of both.
    3. I'm subscribed to a bunch of stories that only update every blue moon. Honestly it doesn't bother me if someone hasn't updated in a while, I'll just find others to enjoy in the meantime.

    1. They werent getting noticed, or I just didnt feel like the writing was good enough. I also lost interest in alot of stories, so I try to write fast so I never lose the inspiration.

    2. Original.

    3. I have a problem with that, and then I finish what they have written and I get because I'll never know how it ends :(

You know, I have the same thoughts, but I have come back to extremely old stories and worked on them.
Best thing is to keep them around, because who knows when inspiration will strike and you'll strike gold :3

Mine are usually discontinued because I feel to pressed to write them to be honest. Or sometimes I just don't feel enough inspiration for them to keep going.

    2. Are the majority of your unfinished stories fanfiction or original fiction?
    I only write original fictions.

    3. Do you still read stories if you know they're unfinished and won't be updated? (I know I sure don't if i see that it hasn't been updated in six months or more)
I really don't, it just depends a lot on the story itself and how much I like it. If I stumble upon it by accident and love it but find out its not being updated, I'll be upset but I will finish reading whatever it has posted.

    1. All mine are drabbles, so if they're not finished, they're not on here (except for one that's about to go down), all unfinished ones just sit on my laptop screaming "Amberrrrrr, why don't you love us anymore? Amberrrrr why won't you finish us?" Ha.

    2.Original Fiction.

    3. If I like it enough, yeah. But honestly I read more drabbles and one-shots than chaptered stories.

Advice: You could delete them or you could make a collection called "Not Finishing" or "Permanent Hiatus" type thing so if people just happen to go to your actual story page, they may see the collection it's in. If they check collections...

I have an unfinished story that I haven't updated in a year until recently, I updated it last week, finally and was shocked to find out that some of my readers had infact stuck around for the year + I'd taken off from it.

After my rant my advice would be, just to write on the status bar seen at the top of the story that it's on hiatus until further notice and to leave, it made the mistake of deleting my first ever fanfiction because it was "bad" in my books but looking back on it I regret it now because it had potential but just needed some major proof reading </3

So yeah, that's my advice XD Sorry for the rambling!
