I've never dated anyone that was in the military, but I have dated a guy who lived in New York while I lived in Oklahoma. I know it's not the same because other things go on, but I can help with making it work with distance. I know it sucks, and the only thing that could get me through the day was when we talked at least once a day. I tried to keep my mind busy when I was talking to him, so I wouldn't start crying or something like that.
He was also in a band and touring so I only got to see him every now and then when he was in the state. When he was here, he had to do a show, so I would have to share him with the fans. But he did focus his attention on me as much as he could.
I think it's just about trusting the other person and hoping for the best. I don't know if this helped, and again I understand that the situation isn't very similar seeing how one is doing a service to the country while mine was entertaining fans across the country.
